The Outcross Linkage Map Analyses Add-in for JMP® Genomics supports Linkage Mapping and QTL analyses for outcrossed lines. These analyses are conducted using the Onemap R package. This Add-in includes a OneMap Import/Export Engine, as well as Linkage Groups and Recombination, Linkage Map Order, and Build QTL Genotype Probability Data Set procedures for Outcross data. The results of these processes...

This hot fix is intended for users of JMP® Genomics 10.0. After the hot fix is applied, the Basic Genetics Workflow process now enables input data containing Non-delimited Genotypes, "/"-delimited Genotypes, or Numeric Genotypes. Also, the Cross Evaluation process now includes the following capabilities: Specifying multiple parents in the backcross analysisComputing a similarity measure between pr...

JMP Genomics 9.0 and JMP Clinical 7.0 do not include the Excel Add-in for JMP. Instead, Excel data files can be opened directly in JMP or imported using JMP's Excel Import Wizard. JMP Genomics additionally offers a Text/CSV/Excel Input Engine, for importing single or multiple Excel data files. [Previously JMP Note 64246]

Many JMP® users like to include special characters in their reports, most commonly subscripts and superscripts. However, you can insert any Unicode character into many parts of your JMP reports manually (i.e., without scripting). The process for inserting Unicode characters on Windows is not obvious. You can copy and paste them from the Character Map on your OS, but you must first set your font co...

In JMP®, when calculating principal components "On Correlations", the input variables are centered and scaled. Loadings are calculated by multiplying the eigenvectors by the square root of their eigenvalues. When calculating principal components "On Covariances", the input variables are centered only. Loadings are calculated by multiplying the eigenvectors by the square root of their eigenvalues...

In JMP® 14.0, the LSMeans Plots in the Fit Model platform might be incorrect for three-way (or higher order) interaction terms. The values in the LSMeans table are correct. Therefore, a workaround for this problem is to create the plots manually from that table. This problem has been fixed in the JMP 14.3 maintenance update. [Previously JMP Note 64389]

Background
Beginning October 3, 2022, Google changed how Google Sheets are accessed. This change disrupted JMP’s ability to access Google Sheets using the Google Sheets Internet Open option.
Accessing JMP will result in the following error message:
We expect this functionality to be restored in a future version of JMP.
Google Sheets Internet Open in JMP is normally performed by selecting File > I...

JMP® Presentation Virtualization (PV) or JMP® for the Cloud licenses cover the legacy PV agreements and the new JMP for the Cloud packaging. The level of support and what is supported remain the same. A JMP Presentation Virtualization license grants organizations the right to install JMP on a Windows Server operating system and allow licensed users to connect to the server using Remote Desktop P...

Differences between SAS® and JMP® are due to different parameterizations and algorithms used to calculate the statistics. The JMP algorithm is computationally more efficient, but PROC GLM is more general. Both are correct, just different. To answer any comparison questions, refer to the Nominal Factors section in the JMP Fitting Linear Models documentation and help. [Previously JMP Note 37920]
When using the Custom Design platform in JMP, after you define the factors in your design, you may specify the model terms of interest (for example main effects, interactions or power effects). Then, in the Design Generation dialog, the number of runs is suggested and calculated according to the specified model. The minimum number of runs corresponds to a saturated design, which means there are as...
The Custom Design platform generates D-Optimal and I-Optimal designs. While the Response Surface platform generates the Classical Response Surface Designs. Response Surface designs such as Box-Behnken, CCD are not generally optimal. By default in the Custom Design platform if you create a Response Surface design it is referred to as an I-Optimal Response Surface Design. [Previously JMP Note 4896...
JMP® 14 includes the addition of new capabilities and therefore, new platforms which have been added to the menus. In addition, some platforms in the Analyze menu have moved, particularly between the Consumer Research and Multivariate menus. The table below shows the location of each of the platforms in JMP 14. The platforms highlighted in blue are found only in JMP Pro. PlatformJMP 14noteAccele...
Convergence might not be attained under certain conditions. These may include the following: incorrect specification of the modelpoor initial starting valuesan over-defined modelinsufficient data Nonlinear models are very sensitive to initial estimates. If these values are not good, the model might not converge. Also, your data might not support the number of parameters you are trying to estimate....
In a Fit Y by X ► One-way analysis, ties in the data cause JMP to stop responding when attempting to run a Wilcoxon Exact Test. In this situation, the only option is to produce the normal approximation result by selecting Nonparametric ► Wilcoxon Test. [Previously JMP Note 60641]
The JMP 15 Distribution platform was modernized to have distributional fitters that match what is available in the Generalized Regression platform. Differences in computational methods can result in differences in reported confidence intervals, the best fitting distribution, and so on, between JMP 15 and earlier versions of JMP. In addition to some newly available distribution fits, additional fea...

How are control limits calculated for the different Shewhart control charts?
This content shows the formulas for control limits for various Shewhart control charts. These formulas use an estimate of sigma. See JMP Note 575376 for information on how sigma is calculated for each chart.

Most designs created using the DOE platforms create a script, If the script is saved to the design's data table it is called DOE Dialog. A DOE script is expected to produce the same design each time it is run, and for some design types, this script contains a random seed and/or a number of starts. However, as modifications are made to JMP to improve efficiency in the algorithms used in design cons...
Centering polynomials helps to reduce the collinearity in a model that has interaction and higher order terms. If you do not use centered polynomials, the parameters on lower–order terms are less meaningful. The benefit of centered polynomials is that they make the test for the main effect independent of the test for the squared term. If you use the center polynomials option, the parameter estimat...
Yes, you can build a model with higher order terms without centering those terms. To turn off polynomial centering, click on the menu next to Model Specification in the Fit Model dialog and select Center Polynomials. This will remove the check mark and turn off the option. In JMP, closing a custom window with an <<On Close() argument can cause JMP to crash. The problem occurs on Windows operating systems.
Example - the following code can cause the crash:

dt = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA\Big Class.jmp" );
win = New Window( "Test",
<<On Close( Close( dt, No Save ) ),
dist = Distribution( Continuous Distribution( Column( :height ), Hori...
