Convergence might not be attained under certain conditions. These may include the following:
- incorrect specification of the model
- poor initial starting values
- an over-defined model
- insufficient data
Nonlinear models are very sensitive to initial estimates. If these values are not good, the model might not converge. Also, your data might not support the number of parameters you are trying to estimate.
