What inspired this wish list request?  GAMs have become so popular, but JMP doesn't have them.   What is the improvement you would like to see?  I would love to see JMP have GAM capability in their predictive platform   Why is this idea important?  GAMs are becoming the "go to" method for a lot of analysts and JMP would be a much better product IMO if they created this functionality. What inspired this wish list request?  A Community Discussion item came in that had the need to separate into columns, each individual character in found in one of the columns in a data table.      What is the improvement you would like to see?  I would like to enhance the Text to Columns function to be able to specify an empty delimiter, which would indicate to the function to use each individual character as a new column   Why is this idea important?  It adds nice functionality to the function and it also makes the function more consistent with other JLS functions, such as the Words function.   ... What inspired this wish list request?      What is the improvement you would like to see? Add configurable sliders to easily see parameter values update as you move the slider through the x or y axis. Allow multiple sliders and configurable statistics to be generated from the two.     Why is this idea important? Hover labels are bulky and can be a nuisance to lock in place without blocking other graphs or important features. Sliding updates allow the user to navigate graphs and clearly see how the data lines up without having to zoom in substantially to grab the perfect point for a hover label. This improves effectiveness of the graphing capability and can improve visual aesthetics for sharing data with others.      ... View more

What inspired this wish list request? JMP is a great tool to help engineers and scientists use statistical methods with the best recommended options/choices. I have learned a lot with JMP about statistical methods and available method choices, and I'm very satisfied by the recommended options in some platforms (for example REML method for models involving random effects).  The "Augment design" platform is excellent. The different augmentation choices make the platform very powerful and convenient in a lot of use cases. However, I'm surprised to see that the option "Group new runs into separate block" is not checked by default, as this is a safe (and good) practice to check if there are any shift in the mean response between the first set of experiments and the next ones.    What is the improvement you would like to see?  I would like the option "Group new runs into separate block" checked by default, so that new users benefit from this safe practice when modeling the augmented DoE dataset. I wanted to change this in platforms preferences, but I wasn't able to find it ? I know this option makes the Space-Filling augmentation unavailable, but an information message just below the Space-Filling panel ("not available when using block") or below the "Group new runs..." option could help and inform the user why this option is greyed out.   Why is this idea important? As JMP promotes good and safe practices in statistics/modeling, I think it is important to recommend by default a safe and good practice in DoE augmentation. It can also help prevent any "bad surprises" when analyzing results for new DoE practicioners/beginners.     ... View more

What inspired this wish list request?  Make it easier to access the file itself in Windows Explorer   What is the improvement you would like to see?  Add "Open Enclosing Folder" to the File menu so that from a data table, the user can quickly open the folder holding that file.   Why is this idea important?  Improves accessibility of JMP outputs.     ... What inspired this wish list request? In my work I paste large amounts of data from excel into an existing JMP file, and I sometime receive this error: "Data types of destination columns and source columns are different" due to a conflict in format between Excel and JMP. It is an easy but time-consuming fix, because I have to track down which specific column is causing the error.     What is the improvement you would like to see? In the JMP error, it would be nice to see the name of the destination column(s) which are triggering the alert, so I can change the data type of the column if needed.     Why is this idea important? This idea would help save time when aggregating data, and would solve users' problems of having to through their worksheet column-by-column in order to find the cause of the error.     ... What inspired this wish list request? I, like many others, use a laptop that I usually have connected to an external monitor, but not always.  When switching between monitor and builtin, Windows will change the display scaling     What is the improvement you would like to see? I would like to see JMP update its graphical display scaling when Windows does     Why is this idea important? Not only does JMP become blurry (having a different logical pixel size as compared to Windows DM), but things like Copy Picture no longer work properly, as the bounding boxes are calculated incorrectly   Please, it is quite literally 2023 -- how is it that JMP is still single-threaded and doesn't update its display scaling?!   ... What inspired this wish list request?    In order to avoid incomplete/misleading interpretation of graphics by exactly superimposed measuring points, JMP allows for an automated jittering of such points, usually along a horizontal line. When trying to connect ALL of these (jittered) points by using the “parallel” tool, JMP connects the “central” points only, neglecting all the other jittered/shifted points in the immediate neighbourhood (see graphic below). – Is there a remedy for this “bug”? What inspired this wish list request?  I regularly need to import multiple files from a directory that has a number of very large Excel files, many of which I don't want to import.  I have found the feature "Import Multiple Files..." to be a huge help.  However the option available to select the filter the files are a powerful.  filter "Select Files By Size" works well enough but not always.   What is the improvement you would like to see? Since there is already a list of files, it would be convenient to just select them manually.  I know that is not scriptable, but is definitely quick and easy.   Why is this idea important? What inspired this wish list request?    I made a plot using graph builder (x and y variables plus  an 'overlay' variable). I applied a colour scale to the points/overlay variable but it treats them independently! For example with the rainbow colour scheme i applied i get this result:   What is the improvement you would like to see?    What I'd really like to see is that the line colours are representative of the colour of the dots/data points that they are fitted through. So my green lines should really be blue/purple, and my green dots should really be red/orange.    Why is this idea important?    Because as it is it just looks weird and makes it more difficult to interpret.    ... What inspired this wish list request?  With the small icon the left, a user can open heder graphs on top of the data table which show histograms of the available entries. Sometimes, with too many distinct entries in a column, the header graph is too small to show all values. Then the user can increase the size of the header graph - but this reduces the space for the actual data table.     What is the improvement you would like to see?  When the mouse is on the header graph, please add a possibility to scroll though the entries of the header graph - instead of scrolling through the data table:       Why is this idea important?  not important.         more wishes submitted by   ... Whenever I create a heat-map in Graph Builder with categorical data, I end up with odd gridlines that don't make sense:     The axes "Show Tick Labels" option is usually set to "Automatic".  I'd like to suggest that "Automatic" set the tick labels to "Short Divider" (or "Interval Tray") for heat-maps with categorical data.   Folks on my team have complained about this verbally before so I'm not the only one.   Thanks for considering this! ... What inspired this wish list request?  In this Heatmap plot, the cells 1-3 are a mixture of 100 red with tiny amounts of green - but they are quite transparent and quite green. Heatmap Plot - mixing colors  Seems that the transparency levels are mixed before colors are mixed, instead of mixing the colors with the respective transparency levels.   What is the improvement you would like to see?  Please adjust the code for color mixing such that 100% red + some green gives something close the red.   Option 1: Please add different blend options to control how colors are mixed, like (from paint.net)   Why is this idea important?  fewer bugs -> happier users :) ... What inspired this wish list request?  When a user want to add new rows to a data table or when he wants to sort the data table there is a risk that this is not possible in Jmp due to open reports. How to update table after sorting?  Worst case: The JSL script just stops with an error message telling the user:   Often the report has no issue with the ordering or the rows, it just needs a refresh.   What is the improvement you would like to see?  Please fix the problem.   Different approaches:  All the user to update the table (add rows, sort the table) and trigger the reports to refresh. If there are reports which actually have an issue with the changes in the data table, ask the user if it's OK to close them. For JSL, don't ask the user, provide an option: sort(..., close reports with issues()); Does an option like  sort( ..., ignoreEffectsOnReports()) make sense? Provide a function myAffectedReports = dt << get reports with issues();​ which returns a list of reports with issues with added rows or sorted data tables. Then the user can close the reports if he wants to. at least:  Provide a function  myReports = dt << get reports(); which returns a list with all reports with a link to the data table. ... independent of the actual name of the Window:  How to sort the data table within an application?  Then the user can decide how he wants to continue ...     Why is this idea important?  With the current behavior of Jmp some actions like adding rows or sorting data tables are not possible when a report is open. In other programs, such actions can be performed without issues. There are several possibilities how to improve the situation for Jmp users.
