When using multiple file import, I would like a way to specify how many rows i want to import from the file.

Unless I've missed some update i find the way of opening online databases via API extremely clunky via scripting. What I'd like is the ability to navigate to a website from within JMP and login to the db and JMP remembers the information (generates the script for you) to be run on other occurrences.

I have diurnal data (time-of-day data for a daily recurring process). I'd like to have access to some plots and techniques from the realm of so-called circular (directional) statistics (see Pewsey A, Neuhauser, M Ruxton G. Circular Statistics in R. Oxford, OUP. 2013). I was thinking that since there is an R package for circular statistics, I could probably access some of these functions by calling R from JSL. But it would be nice to have JMP built-ins. Even just the basic graphics (circular plots, rose diagrams, etc.).

If you want your software to be used in the social sciences, esp. psychology, I recommend two critical features - the first involving simple slopes and the second involving hierarchical regression. In general, the ability to follow up an interaction involving a continuous variable to conduct a "simple slopes" or "simple effects" analysis in which, at a minimum, the user can either probe the slope of a line at different values of another predictor (and obtain slopes with SEs) and even better, provide contrasts between these slopes. The other predictor may be continuous (and thus the ability to plot plus or minus 1 SE would be necessary) or categorical. A second very common technique in psych is hiearchical regression in which two models are compared with one nested within the other. The only way I can do this using JMP is to run both models, extract the model dfs and SS values and MSE, compute an F, and then look up the F in a table (or compute the associated p-value using a JMP Formula). Very clunky. This is super simple in R, SPSS, and even Jamovi.

Sometimes you want to be able to attach a comment or document a decision that one made about a specific data point without having to create a separate variable to hold comments on a specific cell. It should be possible to give each data point its own unique property (a documentation note) that one can integrate at any stage in the analysis process. You already have this ability in terms of being able to identify a unique data point in and between different graphs so why not have a documentation property associated with each data point? Also, it might also be interesting to attach a "history" component to each data value as well so that when a variable is the result of a series of different operations (a series of different equation steps) one can see how the current value of that data point was derived. Just some thoughts as documenting decisions at the point that they are made can be essential in understanding one's data when you come back to it sometime later ;)

When using filter to select data by user (prompt) in query builder, the list box has no options. It would be great to define the number of item to select at max by the user. Else give the possibility to customize the list box with native JSL (for the listbox object with options such as max selected() , n lines() etc ...).

Advanced users obtain results of platforms (e.g., Fit Model) by scripts. But for this, JMP forces the user to "scrape" the report, which is painful. It will be very helpful if the analysis results are, like in R, returned in a structured way, e.g., as an Associative Array.

Provide an Interface to R which will be maintained and further developped as a part of JMP. JMP should be both a stand alone software but at the same time an entry-point to the functional richness of R with smooth transfer of data, control of R running in the background and seamless importing and use of R output in JMP.

More RDMSs have native support for JSON within database columns, but JMP simply treats these as strings. It would be helpful if JMP’s existing support for JSON within files was enhanced to also better parse JSON within database columns from the UI (without relying on JSL).

It would be great to create a pacakge in python. So, that We can import the package python and call the jsl from python itself. I have a jsl script which will generate plots and save to a particular location. I want to call this script from python and in back-end, it will run the script in JMP and save the plots. Currently, when copying and pasting column properties to another column, using either the Copy/Paste Column Properties or Copy/Paste Multi Column Properties, the data format of the selected column(s) isn't carried forward, nor is the column name. I often copy several date/time columns from one data table to another and it would be great if the column name was copied along with the original column(s) data format, even if it created a duplicate variable name.

The current documentation of Python Get() states that : It would be helpful to add the ability to also retrieve dictionaries from Python. Dictionaries are commonly used in Python and will easily translate into Associative Arrays in JMP.

Stuck on a train tonight with some .dta (Stata) files but without Stata on my laptop. No problem I thought - will just import into jmp but seems that isn't currently possible even though you provide support for SPSS, R and SAS (obvs). Train ride seems even longer because of this lack.... :(

Hi, Would JMP consider creating a template for GR&R? JMP software does have measurement system analysis capability, but that is used after the fact. It would be great to have a standard template set up so that people can set up the GR&R runs for correct measurement collection for analysis - much like the templates for DOE Design. Dear all, I really started to love jmp since I was able to import my data from our database (Oracle, mysql) by some query scripts automatically/efficiently. But as far as I know, only method is to use ODBC connectors provided by the operating system (Win10 in my case, using JMP 14.0). Now we are trying to use additional data sources like mongoDB, MS Asure in cloud and others, and it seems that jmp is very limited deriving data therefrom. I know, for mongoDB there is an odbc driver, I'm about to install. And via python I could also get some data from these sources, but would require a python installation for every user. So IMHO it would be neccesary for future releases to add some native connectors to jmp. At least as a starting point in the scripting environment. When looking at other products (like tableau, but I have no access), I'm getting a bit jealousy to the rich support of data sources. https://www.tableau.com/products/desktop#data-sources Thanks and best regards, Georg

I often need to ftp/sftp files from different locations. Currently this is possible through Run Program(), but there are lots of challenges to this approach. One of the biggest issues is there's very limited support to error check through the Run Program wrapper, say if a file hangs mid transport. FTP can be tricky and a native FTP support would be a blessing. Some common problems that it could provide: certificate acceptance on first connection, terminal set up, public key authentication, ect. (there's a mutlitude of log in problems). It would also be convient to both pass commands and wait for prompts.

The Manage Spec Limits menu is great to read in lots of spec limits and store them in column properties. I would like the same to be possible for units in one Manage Spec Limits and Units tool. Units are often missing in graphs, one reason being that it can be a nuisance to enter them by hand.
