JMP Wish List

  I frequently use Journals to capture snapshots of my output. I will then rearrange objects in the journal (typically so that things look more "square" or "wide" (since computer screens are wide, not tall, and JMP reports tends to be tall). Also Creating an outline box in the Journal to contain a section of analysis is a nice way to organize the journal. Then when I want to share it, my typical tool is powerpoint, but I would also like to use export to HTML.   Exporting to doesn't always work as I intend, because typically each outline box and sometimes text boxes in the display are exported as separate pages in power point.   Here are some wishes: 1) Allow Journals to be published to HTML.  (this would be great for JMP Live). 2) Create a way to indicated that a group of display objects should be treated as one thing for conversion to an image when exporting to powerpoint.  Ideas on how to do this:      a) create a flag for the OutlineBox() display object to indicate that everything contained in that outline box should be grouped together for export.  And then update the export / save to powerpoint to recognize that flag and capture the whole contents of the outline box as an image together    b) create a new display object (aka ExportTogetherBox()) that acts like what I described above     Even if the Outline Box() could have a flag to set that says "treat this like all one thing" for export to powerpoint, that would be fantastic. ... What inspired this wish list request? When performing this kind of fit there is a lot of trial and error in choosing the Structure and type to find a best model. This requires running the model multiple times and comparing fit statistics.     What is the improvement you would like to see? Like some other JMP platforms, this one should offer a model all option and show a table and maybe graphs comparing the fit statistics to help choose the best one(s).     Why is this idea important? Increase user efficient and help them choose the best model.     ... From time to time I have to look matches from long strings and usually regex is the method I will (would) use for. Below is an example where I try to find all words starting with f Names Default To Here(1); str2 = "which foot or hand fell fastest"; show(Regex(str2, "f[a-z]+")); // wanted result {"foot", "fell", "fastest"} This will return me only the first match ("foot"). I would request a flag to be added, which could be used to find all possible non-overlapping occurrences, in similar manner as Python's re.findall works.   ... View more

What inspired this wish list request?  I frequently use moving (rolling) fixed size window statistics that can be computed independently for an asset (byVar) for a number of X variables over a datetime ordered data. In my analysis, a predictive quality model has not only select important X's but also a datetime cycle where the effects are most significant from to distinguish normal from abnormal assets.    What is the improvement you would like to see?  A version of these exist in formula stack as Col moving average. I like the ability to add many other statistics using formulas (and not scripts).  I like the following moving statistics be available simply from formulas these include (but not necessarily limited to) ..   moving specific quantiles (wish list from https://community.jmp.com/t5/JMP-Wish-List/Col-Moving-Quantile-function/idi-p/321573)  moving stdev moving slopes moving non parametric Kendall Tau statistic one could imagine moving any statistic     Why is this idea important?    Without the formula functionality, I need to go back to a scripting to recall how to do this every single time I need it. What inspired this wish list request?   In JMP version 17, it is quite time consuming to randomly fit numerous neural net models to hopefully find one that fits well.  If we don't type in the seed number at the start we cannot reproduce the exact analysis later, so we cannot currently reproduce the fit versus validation plots and prediction profilers.     What is the improvement you would like to see?            Why is this idea important? Development of neural net models in JMP is a potentially powerful feature, but it needs improvement to make the modeler's job a bit less repetitive in searching for a neural net that well fits the data.       ... What inspired this wish list request?  To respond the query for Pharmaceutical Regulatory body.   What is the improvement you would like to see?    In recent version of JMP 17, dissolution similarity features included that is really appreciating from the users from Pharmaceutical industry background. However, this new features have few limitation like, we are able to calculate the Dissolution similarity of n=12 units. If we want to establish similarity between Reference (R) and Test product (T) more than 12 units (either 24 or 36 units, if same lot the f2 calculation and if from different lots of R & T>> then f2 matrix) we need to take help of SAS coding experts.   Why is this idea important?  DDSolver plugin for EXCEL is freely available (which worked for 12 no. of units). If JMP will include this feature for more than 12 units, it would be a special proposition, not only for Pharma Industreis community, also for Pharmaceutical Regulatory bodies like FDA, EMA etc.   ... As you know, many of data scientist use XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost (gradient boosting decision tree) to solve their problems by using Python. Could you add these modelings in the decision tree menu (JMP) as well? If it can be provided by JMP Script Language (JSL), it will be great as well. What inspired this wish list request?  Comparative dissolution testing is supported by JMP 17.2.0 standard edition, but the offered functionality is not in compliance with the latest EMA guidance. Recent proposed metrics by Hoffelder (AAPS 2023 paper) are not available.   What is the improvement you would like to see?  Next to bootstrapping of the expected value of f2, in compliance with EMA rules (August 2023), metrics proposed by Hoffelder should preferably be added (T2EQ, SE and EDNA).   Why is this idea important?  Currently, the mentioned functionality is created in R and Matlab code, only accessible to a few people. Having this functionality in JMP will avoid the need for programming skills and additional programming platforms. Especially commands from Add-ins are not recorded.   My wish: Enable Workflow Builder to record as many actions as possible. I have over 100 graphs that generated from graph builder, I need to export them to ppt and 10 graphs per slide. Now export only can do one graph per slide, and I have to manually copy paste to make 10 graphs per slide. What inspired this wish list request?  Trying to use Space Filling with a mixture that does not sum to 1.   What is the improvement you would like to see?  Add an option similar to that in Custom Design to change the mixture sum.   Why is this idea important?  There are workarounds, but they add a lot of unnecessary complexity.   ... The summary table is a handy operation that unfortunately lacks some basic statistics. How is it possible to change the Font setting of Y Group in graph builder?   I'm using JMP Pro 14.1   It is not possible to right-click to change those as with e.g the x-axis.   The Group font and font size are controlled by the "Text" size as specified in the Preferences for JMP.  They are not controlled as an individual graph by graph setting.      File --  Preferences -- Fonts    It would be nice to be able to control the fonts by right-clicking   ... What inspired this wish list request?  The Parallel Plot (Sankey Plot) option in Graph builder is great! It provides you a very intuitive way to compare a multitude of columns. You can even flip a scale to align columns which anticorrelate.   But there is one big problem which makes the parallel plot less useful than it could be: There is no possibility to adjust the individual scales, like. e.g. in this Add-In: Parallel Plot with Axis Scaling   by @txnelson . Therefore, a single outlier point can ruin a whole "column".   there are some option to solve the issue - with their own drawbacks: - Nuke the outlier data point. - Switch to log (x+1) scale,  as @julian showed @ Discovery summit Europe 2023.     What is the improvement you would like to see?  Please provide an functionality to adjust the scales in Parallel Plot.  Nice: an option to choose ranges in order of MAD (median absolute deviation), e.g. +/-3MAD, +/-6MAD.     Why is this idea important?  With the new functionality, Parallel Plot will be much more useful than it is now.         more wishes submitted by   ... Please add a control in the red triangle menu and via preferences to enable an alternative mode: !! lock childs when clear !! The new behavior: If a selection is cleared via >> the selection in child filters should not be reset anymore  << (sure: the row selection should be adjusted to fit to the displayed selection)   Why is this idea important? the proposed behavior has 2 modes where it can show it's advantages:   A) The new lock childs when clear  mode allows a very cool way of selecting rows: use a parent filter to select rows with interesting features, e.g. pass/pail = fail with "Conditional" activated, other filters will adjust accordingly e.g. batches will just shows batches with fail units  select all these batches clear the filter selection for pass/fail you just filtered all batches with fail chips Once you understand the magic behind it, it's a feature you won't want to miss. This way, during exploratory data analysis, you can  "stay in the flow" , just make one step after the other. No need to create a column formula with grouped Col aggregation or similar workarounds.   B) Another benefit which cannot be rated high enough! It will save users hours of waiting time over the course of their working lives:     The current "clear all child-selections" mode for conditional data filters results in long graph rendering times: Every time a selection is cleared, all child selections are cleared as well. No chance to restrict the plot to a subset! So, every the  user has to wait dozens of seconds, or even minutes.   I often work with large data sets which can just be displayed efficiently if a subset is selected (!). The current behavior of Conditional Data filters is so time consuming that I decided to deactivate it. Same for you?   The lock childs when clear mode will fix the issue: With the new behavior, the user can make a "dummy" selection (just a single row), clear all the other data filters, apply a new filter and then clear the dummy selection.
