  • Suggestion on how to script a small update/progress window for modeling

Dear JMP Community,   I'm interested in scripting a small window that pops up when I run my model building script to show me at which step (out of thousands) is it currently running. I'm thinking of doing something like the following script, which works, but also makes a new window each time.Names Default To Here( 1 ); imax = 5; For( i = 1, i <= imax, i++, update_window = New Window( "Progress Up...

  • JSL prompt user for data table name (not saving)

My first JMP community post! JSL has been enormously helpful for me in my work.  Thanks all for your inputs. I'm running a script which concantenates two files.  I'd like to prompt the user when it's complete (or before it starts, doesn't matter) for what s/he would like to name the data table.  The user can then save the data table later if s/he is happy with it.  I don't want to obligate a file ...

  • Graph Builder Add p Values dynamically: recommended workflow

Hi JMP community, I often need to annotate Graph Builder plots (~200) with the results of an analysis (e.g. p Values. Estimates). So far, I have mostly relied on manual annotations but I'm starting to be tired of this approach. I know how to add text dynamically via scripting but I have not figured out a good way to solve my specific problem (see below) What would be your recommended workflow in t...

  • How to walk a directory with many sub-folders to fetch specific files?

Hello, I have a folder/directory with many sub folders. In each of the subfolder there are bunch of csv files. Each csv file has a unique ID in the filename. My question is that if I have a list of IDs then how can I traverse the directory to fetch those specific csv files and concatenate them in a jmp table? Is there a way to do it with a script (JSL)? I will appreciate any guidance. CSV file nam...

  • Interpretation about Split Plot Design Example in JMP

Hello, I have a question about the example of Split Plot Design Example, introduced in JMP webpage.https://www.jmp.com/support/help/14-2/split-plot-design-example.shtml In this explanation, an animal identification code called subject, with nominal values 1, 2, and 3 for both foxes and coyotes. • Passing python-generated jsl to JMP

I work a lot with python programmers to generate a variety of charts and graphs. Often, I play around with Graph Builder (or some other JMP platform) to get what I want. Then I save it as a graphic, send it to them and say "make this". It would be much more efficient, if I could just send them the JSL code and use JMP as the graphic back end. The idea is that when a graph is needed, a python scrip...

  • How do I calculate z-scores at different aggregation levels?

Hello,  How do I use JSL to calculate Z-scores at different levels of aggregation? I am working with cancer mortality data (1999 - 2015) at the county-level. I need to calculate Z-scores to compare each county to the others within a state and all counties within the country. I cannot simply use the standardize function because it automatically takes an average of rates--which is invalid unless the...
