JMP Wish List

What inspired this wish list request?  Saw application which had great way of building "custom queries" to filter down your data and I think JMP could benefit from it.     What is the improvement you would like to see?  I would like to be able to filter down my JMP table data (in best case hide non-wanted data, so this would need something like Row Filtering and hiding ) based on simple queries.   I quickly created quick mockup of the idea. You could have (optional) search bar above your column headers in which you could write "queries". It should allow for wild cards, list of items, exact matches, less than/greater than and so on and you should be able to define if specific search should be AND or OR type (by default they should be AND). And when you right click on the column search bar it would open simplified version of Row Selection menu in which you could more easily build your query. the filter menu could also be something similar like Query Builder has Also if user right clicks on value from data table, it would be nice if they could add it to the search terms.   Why is this idea important?  Makes using just JMP data table easier and allows using it for exploratory analysis. One thing I’ve noticed over time with generating DOE run sheets in JMP is the DOE Dialog script. I like that it’s there so you can easily reproduce the design.   One adjustment I would make is to refrain from actually re-generating the design, which may give a progress bar as well as a new replicate of the run sheet. I think it should take you to the inputs that were being used before the ‘make design’ button is hit because that is ultimately what the user wants to consider (such as trying a new run size or adjusting the model).   It can be distracting to have a new JMP sheet pop up. And in some cases, the progress bar to generate the new design takes a long time, which can be inconvenient as well. This should be a relatively simple upgrade.   ... View more

Since JMP 15 version changing main table background color option was removed. This is highly disturbing. When working for a long time in front of a bright white screen it is becoming very tisturbing and anoying. I strongly suggest to return this feature. Personally I downgraded back to version14. I use JMP for over 23 years from version#5 and this feature was highly appreciated. ... View more

What inspired this wish list request?    Sometimes, one doesn't have access to the raw data, but rather a summary of it, commonly provided as mean and standard deviation numbers - it would be great to be able to visualise such data in graph builder, but currently the only way to plot ranges associated with an average value is to have the raw data (individual data points) so that JMP can do the stdev calculation (among others).   What is the improvement you would like to see?    Functionality in graph builder to accept a column with average values and a column with range (eg, std deviation) associated with each value.   Why is this idea important?    There must be many users who don't always have access to source/raw data? ... What inspired this wish list request?  Messing up my column selection in Variability platform launcher when I didn't remember the exact order (was it the first or last item in group which was considered "part").   What is the improvement you would like to see?  I would like to have Keep Dialog Open checkbox (disabled by default) in all of JMP platform launchers so I can enable it, run my platform, check I get I was expecting to get, if I didn't modify launcher settings, run again, ..., until I can close my launcher.   Why is this idea important?  Makes it easier to test different settings in JMP Platform launchers. We do have a recall but it is always a hassle to go and find the platform from menus. There is also the "Recall Last Platform" which kinda does what this check box would, but no one knows about it and it is behind menus (learning the shortcut would definitely help though, but it would force me to move my mouse hand to keyboard as by default it is Ctrl + L). Maybe adding that as a toolbar could be other option instead of adding keep dialog open check box. ... Hello,   I would like to have the ability to set the Lilliefors curves in the normal quantile plots of Distribution to user-defined confidence intervals. What inspired this wish list request? I am using FDE to create FPC Scores to use as inputs to into a Generalized Regression model.  I would like to use this model outside of JMP Pro as part of a quality Control Process.  While I can use the GenReg model outside of JMP, I have no way to generate FPC Scores from the time series to use as input.     What is the improvement you would like to see? I would like to be able to to export code that takes the time series as input and exports FPC Scores.  If that is too difficult, at least create a way to generate FPC scores from new data inside of a JMP sheet.  Ideally both solutions.     Why is this idea important? This idea is important because while creating a solution in JMP is great, being able to use the solution in a quality control process is necessary.     ... View more

I was analyzing a bunch of historical data for engineers who had several potential multiple response column factors. They have only regular JMP (not JMP Pro), so several steps were needed to make them a Profiler they could play with in their copy of regular JMP.   JMP17 and JMP18EA8: I discovered that I could not get a profiler to appear in GenReg with the multiple response column factor in the model, much less if I saved the prediction formula (and PredSE formula) and used Graph>Profiler. However, if I edited the prediction formula column to remove ContainsItem() and replaces with If(Contains(),1,0) and replace the multiple response column reference with a nominal column, then Graph>Profiler would work fine. And I could give my engineers a Profiler they could play with. But these are a lot of annoying extra steps. Save me the steps!      ... View more

In the Response Screening platform, please can there be an option to update the fit chart when the selected row is changed? At the moment (JMP 17.2), it's necessary to select the row of interest, then select "Fit Selected Items" from the red triangle menu each time.  The chart updating automatically will make it much easier to rapidly scan through long lists of parameters. What inspired this wish list request?  We are using JSL to create charts for very heavy datasets, and exporting them to PDF for external users with no JMP access. The size of PDF is too big to handle sometimes, there could be dozens of charts in the same pdf with millions of points per charts,  we get PDFs of above 700-800MBytes sometimes, and they are too heavy to open and navigate.   What is the improvement you would like to see?  we want to preserve the options to search for text in the pdf, and keep the resolution of the charts high, but we don't need the plot data to be vector based. So a good solution would be to convert the charts to flat hi-res images and embed them in the pdf with the surrounding text kept searchable.   Why is this idea important?  This is a common issue for all users who export PDFs with charts that shows large datasets.   ... The idea came from 2024 RAM Conference, when one of the papers talked about fractional number used in reliability. So it looks like the fractional number is already supported for some of the reliability analysis tools. However when I tried running it by using fractional number on cost column of recurrence analysis input, the recurrence analysis tool did not like it (had error). We have been ignoring the fail denies (those failures with no faults found), but we know that there are some failures that had missing diagnostics to be able to catch them, and we would like to include those instead of just ignoring them completely.    I am running jmp version 16.        ... What inspired this wish list request? While using the summary table, I have to find work arounds for interacting with the raw data table with selections that area easy to make in the PS summary table.  For example, if I wanted to just select the columns that have out of spec conditions there is no easy way to do that.     What is the improvement you would like to see?  Add the ability in the red arrow drop down to select the columns in the associated data table from the highlighted "Column" rows in the PS summary table  In the select where options in the red triangle , add in "not missing" or add in an "Invert selection" option Add in the ability to lock the highlighted "Column" rows so that if you change anything on a local data filter, the same "Column" rows will remained highlighted after the filtering is finished.  Right now it moves around (and I not sure what logic it uses) Add in the options for "Process Screener" under the red arrow options of "Launch for Selected".  This goes along with second item above (the item above is how you would selection items when you then want to use the red arrow option of "Remove Selected Items", this suggestion allows you to remove unselected items) When the sorting order of the PS summary table is changed, have the "Charts as selected" and "Charts for selected" order update to match the new order. Allow selecting rows in the data table with out of spec and/or Alarms to be selected vis a red arrow button for the highlighted "Column" rows in the PS Summary table. On the "Charts as selected" and "Charts for selected" have preferences for the Control limits and Spec limit formatting that are platform specific Be able to sort the PS summary table by more than one column Have the ability so that on "Charts as selected" the axis settings will not get updated for the X axis as you select other "Column" rows     Why is this idea important? This will improve the user efficiency and experience as well as allow better presentation and exploring of the outputs from the platform.    Thanks for considering Steve   ... What inspired this wish list request? While using the Power Explorer platform, I find myself having to jump back and forth between different input boxes as I try and examine different operation conditions due to the fact that few of the boxes can be locked.  This makes for a frustrating and ineffective user experience.  Also, there are some one and two sample test I'd like to do power analysis for an equivalence test but there is currently no option.     What is the improvement you would like to see? Add Power to the "Solve for" drop down options Add Margin of Error to the "Solve for" drop down options Only allow what has been selected in the "Solve for" drop down  to change as the other input boxes are updated Add the ability to lock the ratio between G1 and G2 sample sizes For Sample Counts per Unit, change the "Assumed Ratio of Group Counts per Unit" inputs to a single input of the ratio of group 1 to group 2 defect counts per unit. Add in one and two sample Equivalence test for Proportions and Counts     Why is this idea important? The Power Explorer platform is a key platform but is hard to use and less intuitive than the Minitab equivalent(though it does have more and better capability!).   Thanks for considering this! Do I want the Column Switcher on the left or on the top? -> just enable or disable the Horizontal option :)   For Lineup Boxes it's similar:  Just send <<NCol(N) to a lineup Box and the items will be aligned horizontally instead of vertically (if the setting before was NCol(1))   You can imagine what comes next? How do I get the Column Switcher below the graph or to the right?   What is the improvement you would like to see?  option 1) For DisplayBoxes which can contain multiple sub-items, please provide an option Reverse 0/1 to specify if the items appear 1->N inside the report or in the reverse order.   option 2)  please provide a functionality to specify the precise order of the sub-items. Maybe even with the possibility to specify a different number M of items to display - for a Display Box with originally N available items. *) <<order({x,y,z}) where the user can specify the number of the sub-item that should appear at position x, the item that should appear at position y and so on. e.g. with the option order ({1,1,1}), the first sub-item of the Listbox should appear 3 times (making sense or not).     *) I think it's easier to be open here than to throw an error if M=N and if a specific item is listed multiple times.     Why is this idea important?  More flexibility when re-formatting a report window that already exists. What inspired this wish list request? I tried Alt+clicking function from scripting index, so I could quickly get to specific category but immediately saw that it didn't work like.   What is the improvement you would like to see? I would like like that scripting index would highlight/go to first category when I select item, from non-filtered list of items, which isn't All Functions.   If I have for example simple script like this Names Default To Here(1); Expr() and I would access the category in which Expr is, easiest option would be to open scripting index, write Expr to filter, select Expr from the filtered item list, select Expression from category and finally clear expr from filter.    How I would hope it would work, is that when I click Expr (from non filtered Item list) or alt+click from scripting index, I would immediately be brought to scripting index which has Expression category selected with my desired item also selected (Filter could also be filled, but that should be Preference). Currently I will have All Categories selected and I will have to browse through to find next highlighted category.   Why is this idea important? What inspired this wish list request?  I want to automate the saving of Animated GIF for my dashboard. Currently, I can click the animation control to play, record & save as animated GIF by using hand.
