  • Warning: Avoid using dashes in column names!

This is mostly unexpected and it took me a while to figure out. If you use dashes ('-') in column names, bad things can happen.  Consider the following case: you want to calculate the mean of two columns. So you open the Formula Editor and pick Statistics>Mean, then try to drag the columns inside the parentheses. In JMP16, this used to work just fine. In JMP17, things have changed a bit, I think. ...

  • Linear and quadratic contrasts with unequally spaced treatments

I am using the contrasts specification window with + and - buttons. However, when treatments are unequally spaced, the simple + and - isn't working. Here's my specific example: Treatment doses: 0, 1, 2, 4  These doses are NOT equally spaced so we can not use the typical 4 level linear and quadratic contrasts. I calculated appropriate coefficients as shows in this link.  https://real-statistics.com...

  • Process capability forecast

Hi,I have calculated the process capability in JMP for this process with the mixture of 2 normals distribution. Our current ppk is 0,94. We plan to improve the measuring system cause it has currently a high variation. Now I want to explore how much improvement for the measuring system is needed (measuring system variation is actually 2.5).  Does anybody know how this simulation can be done in JMP?...

  • JMP Script Window - Hovering over a variable do not show the value stored in the variable if passed between scripts

I have found that hovering over a variable is very useful feature in JMP Script Window/Editor when debugging the script. I have been working with very long script which I have divided to smaller pieces by using Include-feature. I am able to pass variable content correctly between the included scripts but it looks like hovering do not work on included script windows (showing empty variable content ...
