  • Calculation a p-value in a data table (regression) using row formulae

Background: Suppose I have rows of x, y data (SN_C, Value [Sigma Units]) as shown in attached file but also pasted below.   Slope_8 is calculated from the previous 8 [x.y] values. I want to compare the slope_8 value to the null hypothesis for linear regression (slope =0) and provide a p-value. Is there an easy way to do this? The formula for the slope 8 was taken from these discussion boards (@txn...

  • DOE for Nested Factors

Hello!  I'm designing an experiment with 5 factors.  Factor X1 is Ingredient Type, a two-level categorical variable (Ingredient A or Ingredient B).  But we also want to investigate the concentration of both ingredients.  Ingredient A has a range of 5% to 20%, while Ingredient B has a range of 1% to 10%.  I can't include this as three independent factors.  I see two reasonable options:- Run two seq...

  • Specifying axial value as rotatable in custom design

    Hello,

I am trying to create a custom DOE in order to maximize the response yield of a target quantity as a function of two continuous factors and one 2nd level categorical factor. The interactions of these factors are of the third order, and I am specifying 2 center points. However, I also want to define axial values to set axial positions such that I get a rotatable surface, similar to that of a ...

  • Problem with adding midpoints to my design (they are not randomly distributed)

    Dear Community,
I have created a design with 12 factors, 11 of them are continuous and the last one is discrete numeric with three levels. I decided to add 30 midpoints (see attached screenshot of the experimental design). Why are the factors of the midpoints not randomly distributed?
I tried the model with fewer factors, and the midpoints were randomly distributed as desired.
    I also tried increasin...

  • How to use sample size and power for factorial DoE to determine number of replicated treatments

I'm trying to learn how to operate JMP's dialog boxes for sample size for use in experimental design. I'd like to understand how to determine the number of replicates necessary in a factorial experiment.  I'd like to know how many times to run each treatment combination.   Assume there is no measurement error, no need for blocking or centerpoints, the response variable is continuous and everything...

  • Mixture sum

Hi.  I tried to make a custom designed mixture experiment with only two different ingredients with varying procents, all other ingredients is helt constant. I tried to use the "mixture sum" option to sum up the two ingredient at the maximum range but it does not work. The last ingredient gets changed into the value stated in mixture sum but that is not what I am after. Any suggestions on what coul...

  • Response Screening Effect Size - logistic

Related to the previous post How to get "Effect size" column with Response Screening functionality , I am also wondering how effect size in the response screening platform is calculated, specifically for categorical Y vs continuous X.  JMP help shows:  "When Y is categorical and X is continuous, the effect size is the square root of the average ChiSquare value for the whole model test."  Running b...

  • DoE with two-choice experiments, continuous response variable

We want to rank the preference  of population of animals for n different recipes. Recipes are tested in two-choice assays, where groups of over 100 individuals can choose one choice or the other. Preference for the group is computed as a preference index, a continuous variable that is between -1 and 1. Is there an experimental design that would help reduce the number of combinations to test in ord...

  • Sub-sampling data analysis in JMP

In Biology (Plant Sci. and Agriculture) usually we have sub-sampling data for replicates. It's very difficult to analyze these data in commonly use Stat S/W (SPSS/Minitab) because MSS(Error) is calculating wrongly.  Without taking averages of samsamples, the easiest S/W for this is using JMP and I need some assistance for this. I've found very useful Youtube video about subsampling in JMP  (CRD: S...
