What inspired this wish list request? When building GUIs and Add‑ins in JMP, many common user interface concepts cannot be expressed with the built‑in icon set. Typical symbols such as settings, status indicators (e.g., traffic‑light‑style states), or even a large search/magnifier icon are not available. The current icon set mainly consists of technical, internal function icons and lacks the semantic symbols needed for modern UI design.
What is the improvement you would like to see? Expand the built‑in icon library in JMP to include a broad set of universally recognized GUI icons. Examples include: settings (gear), search (magnifier), status/traffic‑light indicators, information, warning, confirmation, navigation, document/table icons, and other common UI elements used in modern applications. Ideally, these icons should be available cross‑platform (Windows and macOS).
Why is this idea important? A richer, standardized icon set enables clearer, more intuitive GUIs and Add‑ins, reduces the need for manually importing custom images, and improves overall usability. It enhances communication of states and actions, avoids ambiguity, and makes JMP‑based tools more consistent with modern software expectations. Cross‑platform availability ensures that scripts and Add‑ins work consistently on Windows and macOS without extra effort or platform‑specific adjustments.
