  • How do I extract excel filename from a user-selected file?

Folks,   I can't seem to figure out how to extract the original file name of an Excel workbook that a user selects.  After selecting the appropriate file as shown below, the actual file name I get is the worksheet name (sheet 1), not the original file name (test_data.xls). I'm ultimately trying to rename the originally selected excel file and need the file name, not the opened worksheet name, to a...

  • Open Local Image In Expression Column

Hi,I am trying to import some images into a data table using an Expression Column in JMP12.  I am able to import an image from URL, but when I try the same technique on a local image, JMP12 will open the image rather than import it into the data table.  Does anyone have any idea what is causing this difference how to resolve it?  Thanks!Names Default To Here( 1 );dt = New Table( "Image Test",     ...

  • How to force .jmpaddin to open with JMP?

Hi, I'm making a JMP Add-In.  It works great for me.  But it failed to install for another user as his Win 8 did not know what to associate .jmpaddin to in terms of programs (although he already had JMP 11 installed and other JMP Add-Ins registered and working).  Once we manually told .jmpaddin to open with say JMP in Win 8, all was good.Any JSL code I could use to make .jmpaddin extension to alwa...

  • stability analysis shelf life error

Hi, When I want to run stability analysis in JMP, I click the following: Analyze-> Reliability and survival -> Degradation. If my data has an increasing trend and I provide the upper specification limit, the result is fine and is what I expect. If my data has a decreasing trend and I provide the lower specification limit, the result is also fine. However, if my data has an increasing trend and I h...

  • Co-Kriging with JMP and Matlab

Hi!I was wondering if anyone already tried to work with Co-Kriging, using JMP together with Matlab. As JMP only fits Ordinary Kriging Models (Gaussian Process with Gaussian Correlation Function), I would like to send data (generated with Space Filling JMP Platform) from JMP to Matlab, fit the models there (Matlab), and bring the MODELS back to JMP, to use inside Profile Platform. Do you have any e...

  • File Exists () - can this work with HTML path?

Are there any tricks to get File Exists() to work with an internal html path (internal meaning a network drive represented as an html path and not UNC path)? So far I cannot get it to recognize a file path that exists using the html path representation like below.  Are there any tricks to make this work or some other file check related command perhaps?  DJfile exists("p:\\mypath\test.jsl"); //UNC ...

  • Has anybody used the hierarchical clustering function in JMP for all ordinal data and tried how well the non-Ward options work?

So I am trying to build clusters in JMP with the cluster analysis but since my data is all categorical,I was wondering if some of the other options would work better. There is blessfully little in the JMP manual on which drop down to use and the internet was not particularly helpful other than suggesting that for all categorical data different algorithms should be used. Any suggestions would be gr...

  • Interpreting canonical structure and scores in discriminant analysis

I'm trying to interpret the relative contributions of my variables in a discriminant function analysis of chemical data for three groups of rocks.  In a stepwise, linear, common covariance discriminant function analysis I'm able to generate non-overlapping 95% confidence ellipses for my three groups with no incorrectly assigned data points using 6 variables.  My understanding is that the scoring c...

  • Generalized Segmented Distributions

A former classmate of mine from Graduate School has recently published a paper on Generalized Segmented Distributions.  Utilizing this method, the distribution can approach any continuous density function of arbitrary form.  The method is particularly effective in fitting data with sufficient observations that are skewed and/or multimodal.  The paper can be found here:The General Segmented Distrib...
