  • What is the best way to analyze the relationship between a binary and quantitative variable?

Hi, sorry if this is a really newb question but I'm working on a dataset for class on the relationship between depression and sleep. I have two variables, depression with a yes/no response, and average hours of sleep for each respondent (5,6,7,etc.). I analyzed the two for ANOVA and found their R-squared and the P value for the relationship, but is there a better test for this specific situation? ...

  • Converting percent loss to probits in JMP

I generated independent probit regressions for multiple populations to a toxicant using a binomial general linear model with a probit link function and log(dose) as the X. Now I wish to convert my Y to probit units. When I save formulae from the GLM output I get this formula for each population: Normal Distribution(Intercept+Slope*Log(dose)) Given that a probit is the inverse of the cumulative dis...

  • JMP 16 and JMP 16 Pro lagging table scrolling

When I scroll in the data table using the slide bar on the right hand side, the data table does not move at the same time. When I try to highlight cells in the data table with my mouse the cells do not highlight.I recently received a new laptop and installed the JMP on it this week.  I did not have this problem with my old laptopPlease advise.  Thank you

  • Adding penalties to number of splits in Partition platform to reduce number of leaves?

I have recently been spending a lot of time in the Partition platform, and currently I'm looking for a way to automate the analyses. My issue is this: generally I've been splitting the data set 50/50 training/validation, and hitting "Go", which maximizes the validation RSquare. But, this often leads to models which have a larger number of splits than are really credible, e.g. here where it creates...

  • Concatenate from subset data table

Hi all,I am trying to concatenate data (dt1)  from my subset tables (e.g subset by gender) dt1 also has a column name gender. However, when I try to concatenate the subset data into dt1, it kept on creating another column (gender, gender1, gender2) where the data from the subset tables are placed and not on the gender column on dt1.How can I concatenate data from subset tables to the specified col...

  • Variability Chart Platform Factor Re-Insert Positions (Not Swapping)

Hello JMP Community, I understand dragging between any two factors swaps the location pairs in the Variability Chart platform. Is there a way to drag to specifically re-insert the factors instead? For example, can I drag "Layout" between "Horizontal" and "Wafer ID" in the attached screenshot instead of performing multiple drags to have the intended result? I am aware I can do this reordering with ...

  • how can I use structural equation model to make predictions?

Hi, I built a structural equation model and it works well. I would like use the model to make some predictions. Basically, what I want to do is to change the value of a variable and then JMP can calculate the values of other variables. Is there any way i can output the model equation so that I can use it to predict? Thanks.

  • Get (x & y) intercept values from linear fit of the linear region of a curve/data and store them in a new column

I have JMP data table with data from several parts for which a Capacitance 'C' has been measured as a function of reverse voltage 'V' (0 to -5 V in -0.1V step). A plot of [1/C]^2 vs V has a linear part for small reverse bias (say from 0 V to -0.5V and data is available at 0, -0.1, -0.2, -03, -0.4 -0.5 V within this range). How to do a linear fit to the points between 0 to -5V for each part, extrac...

  • Debugger report for finding bottlenecks

I'm trying to find bottlenecks in a large script with many includes.  I can run the debugger to profile the script but I'm wondering if there's a better way than just looking through each included script for the highest number.  I'm imagining a pareto.     Anyone know a good method to analyze script performance?
