  • How to do Model Selection from Contingency Analysis

My domain is Consumer Research.  I have 7 explanatory variables and 1 response variable.  All are categorical. My objective is to replace the response variable with one or a combination of the explanatory variables. My approach:Perform contingency analyses of each of the explanatory variables with the response. From the contingency analysis, select the explanatory variable with the highest R-square (...

  • How to compute the parameter std error (or standard deviation) from the Hessian returned by the Minimize() function?

Hello, I have a problem with calculating the standard error of the parameter estimates using minimize() with the optional parameter <<showdetails which returns a few extra values including the Hessian Matrix.  My (rather basic) understanding of the Hessian is that the diagonal elements should be a good approximation of the inverse of the variances. However, I do not get a good agreement between th...

  • Why is the RMSE returned by the Linear Fit deviating the sqrt(sum(residuals^2)/n)?

    I am confused regarding the Root Mean Square Error reported in the "Summary of Fit" in the Linear Fit platform. x = [1.309, 1.471, 1.49, 1.565, 1.611, 1.68]; y = [2.138, 3.421, 3.597, 4.34, 4.882, 5.66]; {Estimates, Std_Error, Diagnostics} = Linear Regression( y, x, <<printToLog ); z=Estimates[1]+Estimates[2]*x; rmse_lin_reg=sqrt(sum((z-y)^2)/nrows(y)); as table(x,y,<<Column Names({"x","y"})); b...

  • JMP15 Mac OS Dark Mode

Is anyone having issues with Dark Mode? I have a Macbook and JMP15. There is a bug with dark mode and having gridlines on graphs, it knocks out the readability of the data tables. Even when this is on blue text which you can't change is too hard to read on black background so I want to turn it off completely. I can't see how to turn off dark mode within JMP - does anyone know where it is? Currentl...

  • How can I know to which cluster does a new variable "best" belongs to?

Hi,I like clustering analysis to explore my datasets. Many times I have a set of patients that are clearly one type or another, and some patients with unclear status. What I often want to do is cluster the patients whose cases are clear using a series of explanatory variables, and then compare the other ones (one by one) to try to assess to which cluster they "would belong" or "look like the most"...

  • JMP Statistical Analysis - Fit Model - Omitting of Results

During statistical analysis of our data set using JMP, we encounter the following problem that I would like to share with you for to ask whether other users of JMP have encountered this before and know why it occurs and how to solve it.Fit Model( Y( :Measured RP% ), Effects, Random Effects( :Assay ), NoBounds( 0 ), Personality( "Standard Least Squares" ), Method( "REML" ), Emphasis( "Minima...

  • Monte Carlo Simulation: how to determine the experimental domain of each factor while keeping a defect rate lower than 5%

Hey JMP users,  I have a question regarding the Monte Carlo simulation. I need to fix the parameter's experimental domain in order to have a defect rate of 5%. Is there anyway to proceed by fixing the Defect rate and then deduce how would be the value of mean, lower and upper limit for each factor ?  Thanks !

  • SharePoint Online

My company recently began the migration from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint Online.  I have found that my JSL scripts are now no longer able to open or save files to the new SPO site.  Anyone have the correct updated syntax for this. • Problem specifying model for a partly nested ANOVA design

My study design is mixed-model with one fixed between-plot fixed factor (A), a random plot factor (B), nested in A (B[A]), and two crossed within-plot fixed factors (C and D).  I'm able to enter a full factorial model that includes the 3 fixed factors and all their interactions, using either the Least Squares or Mixed-Model Personality.  I'm also able to add the random factor (B[A]), but things go...

  • Default encoding on JMP - EUC-KR

Hi,I have JMP 14.2, 15.1, and also 16.0EA at the moment. All versions here don't include EUC-KR encoding system; so this can cause importing problems in many cases since a lot of Korean data or pages are made with EUC-KR. I have charsets that are all broken. So I had to import it with other programs and save as to fit into UTF-8 or match/join columns with other matching codes. It seems like JMP is a...
