Display a stopwatch counter (parallel with another JSL action)

Does anyone know how to display a time counter (say 1 sec intervals using a wait(1) ), but while another JSL action is taking place? So this stopwatch counter would display like 1, 2, 3,.... until that other action finished like pulling data from a database.
