  • What is the best way to analyze the relationship between a binary and quantitative variable?

    Hi, sorry if this is a really newb question but I'm working on a dataset for class on the relationship between depression and sleep. I have two variables, depression with a yes/no response, and average hours of sleep for each respondent (5,6,7,etc.). I analyzed the two for ANOVA and found their R-squared and the P value for the relationship, but is there a better test for this specific situation? ...

  • "not responding" vs. "still thinking"

    I will sometimes set up some really big jobs on JMP Pro 16 on my Macbook Pro (32 GB of RAM), and after a few minutes, my Mac will tell me "Application not responding," which is confirmed by the Task Manager. However, many times, if the particular platform I am using has a status/progress bar, I will see it advancing (however slowly). Is it ever possible to know if the script is still running vs. w...

  • JMP script- Where( ) function not accepting string variable

    Hello all,I want to script the "By" in a call to the Pareto function. I notice that Pareto plots plotted "By" something look like this:

    Pareto Plot(Cause( :SBIN_NAM ), X( :Insertion ), Where( :lot_id == "4LU31HFN00_E95029" ))The "Where" implements the "By" field from the Pareto function dialog box.  So, I have a JMP script where I want to plot Pareto plots by a column called "lot_id".  However, I w...

  • Divide column by reference point with conditions

    Hi. I have a problem I can't get my head around. I am trying to create a new column which consists of another column divided by a reference point, but the problem is I have some conditions to include.For simplicity I have added a generated datafile which I will refer to. What I want to do is to take column Z and divide it by Z|X=c within each Y-group. The Y-groups are as you can tell not the same ...

    Hello everyone,  I have a 3 step process with 7 factors A, B, C, D, E, F, G and a single response Y. Step 1: A and B are some continuous machine settings and C is the time for which those settings are applied20 <= A <= 100300 <= B <= 70030 <= C <= 180 Step 2: D and E are continuous factors for a treatment that is applied to the samples after step 1.  Step 3: F and G are discrete numeric factors fo...

  • Variability Chart Platform Factor Re-Insert Positions (Not Swapping)

    Hello JMP Community, I understand dragging between any two factors swaps the location pairs in the Variability Chart platform. Is there a way to drag to specifically re-insert the factors instead? For example, can I drag "Layout" between "Horizontal" and "Wafer ID" in the attached screenshot instead of performing multiple drags to have the intended result? I am aware I can do this reordering with ...

  • Get (x & y) intercept values from linear fit of the linear region of a curve/data and store them in a new column

    I have JMP data table with data from several parts for which a Capacitance 'C' has been measured as a function of reverse voltage 'V' (0 to -5 V in -0.1V step). A plot of [1/C]^2 vs V has a linear part for small reverse bias (say from 0 V to -0.5V and data is available at 0, -0.1, -0.2, -03, -0.4 -0.5 V within this range). How to do a linear fit to the points between 0 to -5V for each part, extrac...

  • Debugger report for finding bottlenecks

    I'm trying to find bottlenecks in a large script with many includes.  I can run the debugger to profile the script but I'm wondering if there's a better way than just looking through each included script for the highest number.  I'm imagining a pareto.     Anyone know a good method to analyze script performance?
