  • Custom Design: Mixture with Process Variables. How to Evaluate Design?

I am trying to use Custom Design to screen some material composition and process variable factors within my experimental system. My experimental setup is perhaps a little convoluted but I will explain the best I can.  My factors are as follows: Material components: Monomer type: Categorical, 2 levels.Photoinitiator content: Continuous.Photoabsorber content: Continuous.Monomer Mixture (3:2): Contin...

  • Using disallowed combinations to remove a factor from the DoE

Hello!I want to design an experiment to test the best setup in a machine where one of the factors define if I should test the other factors. Simplifying the problem, suppose the machine have a (A) water valve: on/off. If the water valve is on, then I want to test (B) hot/cold water and (C) flow rate between 5 and 7 mL/s. When the water valve is off, B and C does not make sense. How should I design ...

  • DOE for binary response

Hello,I have a binary response F/P. The current failure rate is 15%. There are 3 factors we like to experiment with X1, X2, and X3. There is also a blocking factor L with 3 levels, i.e. line 1, line 2 and line 3. X1 and X2 are continuous with two levels. X3 is also continuous bust since it's settings cannot be set accurately, we consider it as two level categorical with low level with values in th...

  • Basic Question - Central Composite Design

Hello, I wondered if I could ask a question about orthogonality of the squared term columns in a Central Composite Design (CCD) with two factors A and B. The dot product of any pair of columns in the model matrix is always zero - I always understood this to mean that the column (vectors) of say A with B or B with AB or B with B^2 are orthogonal (at right angles to) each other so their beta's can b...

  • Limit the number of factors per run in a DOE design

Hi,  I'm screening 16 categorical factors (16 different genes that I'm activating), but the total amount of DNA I can deliver is limited, so the more genes I try to activate the weaker the activation is. Anything over 8 genes per run will be hard to interpret because of this dilutive effect. Is there a way to limit the number of factors in any one run to 8 targets, but still get info main effects ...

  • How to create a "revolving" x-axis in JMP?

Curious if there's even a way to do this in JMP.... I need to modify my x-axis to where I start off with an arbitrary number (ex. -77), increases to say, -111 in the middle of the axis, then returns back to -77. The problem I'm having is that my data includes multiple configurations and occasionally, within one configuration data set, I'll have the same x-value even though it's two separate data p...

  • Screening of factors by Planket burman design

One of my factors is showing a p-value greater than 0.05 but in the half-normal plot, the factor is showing significance. What should I consider in the optimization? Should I take the p-value into consideration or a half-normal plot? Kindly explain in detail. Help me out.

  • Gauge R&R interpretation when accounting for Crossed effects

The MSA used to calculate GaugeR&R recommends selecting Crossed as the Model type. This is a slightly different method compared to evaluating just the Main effects of Appraiser and Part which many spreadsheets and tools use to calculate Gauge. I understand the concept of crossed effects, but I'm having a difficult time understanding how the crossed variance calculation is made (i.e. if I want to h...

  • How do I replace a prediction expression in a fit model with a specific expression?

Hi, I am completing a DOE and I have ran a fit model using the JMP software to define a design space based on desirability of certain variables, however one of the desirability variables is a simple ratio of two of the construct model effects, however when running the model, the model is defining its own prediction expression for this variable rather than using the formula in the data table. Does ...

  • How does AICc criterion and Combined rules interact in Stepwise Fit Platform?

As an entry-level user of JMP but with a bit of statistical knowledge. I encountered with a problem when trying to use the stepwise fit platform to develope a regression model for my DoE dataset.

I read the JMP help book and understand how combined rule applied to p-value based stepwise regression (a joint F-test and another partial F-test of interaction effect when added precedent main effects). ...

  • Creating DOE (and fitting) for non-linear response

Hello, I am still new to JMP but I'm trying to determine the best way to model a non-linear system (generating DOE + model fitting). Context: Long story short, I have a large experimental space that I am trying to model (10 discrete variables + 10 continuous variables). Before I jump into my full experiment I'm working with a subset (1 discrete variable + 5 continuous variables) to make sure I'm m...

  • Robust vs. Non Robust Response Screening/ Categorical Outliers

Hello! I appreciate your help in advance!  I am currently trying to figure out the proper way to analyze my data!  I had used the DOE feature of JMP to create this fraction factorial of 24 runs for m experiment. The goal is two screen which categories have the most effect on the success rate. I had initially use the response screening option to analyze my results, when I did that none of my values...
