  • comparing data in rows and naming according to column names

Greetings, I have a data set for which I would like to have a column formula that considers several rows, and then returns a name to the new column according to the row data, specifically the highest value among the selected rows.   I would like the name returned to be the same name from those columns considered.  Something like this, what would that formula be please?   (Thank you ahead of time f...

  • Column mean from certain rows - then populate mean in a new column

I'd like to calculate a column mean with the condition that it only includes the rows with a certain ID. In this case, I only want to average the data for the Blanks. I'd like the output to populate down a new column. The result will look like this: I know how to achieve this with the Table>Summary application, but I don't know how to do it in my data table + have it populate down. Thank you for t...

  • Transforming a matrix of data to columns (with sample labels)

Hello! I process a lot of data sets with a unique format. They contain a matrix of data with a corresponding "map" of their labels. I've made a simplified version here as an example. The sample labels are in the first rows, followed by the data itself.  For example, Sample 1 was measured 3 times and results are 20, 30, 40. I want to transform this data set so that the label is in column 1 and the ...

We can choose among various methods such as  Student and Dunnett.  The following is the output of the dunnett methodwhere the format of the diffs is : Batch - Control but the confidence limits are not the same as in the students case:So what I would like is to take the second table. • Not sure how to use "Weight" in "Analyze"

I want to do something really simple. For simplicity's sake, assume I have two groups, let's say with N=2,000 in group 1 and N=3,000 in group 2. I'd like to compute an overall mean of a variable Y that is collected for each group. Y's mean in group 1 is 4 and in group 2 is 8. The overall mean here would be the unweighted mean and not the weighted mean–it should be 6. I might have thought that I sh...

  • Is there a way to tell LCA that the rows are ordered by class?

Typical dataset: 120-200 rows, 15 classes. Rows are known to be ordered by class. What is unknown is where the 'fences' between classes are. As-is -- i.e., without taking row order into account -- LCA correctly classifies about 94% of rows. My intuition is that if I knew how to tell the algorithm that the rows are grouped by class on input, we'd be at 100%. Visual, in case my use of 'grouped by' i...

  • I would like to find another political scientist or other social scientist who has worked with mapping congressional districts and counties

There are great bodies of data presented by counties (disease incidence, education, income). There are other bodies of data presented by congressional districts (incumbents, vote percentages, etc.)  I want to find someone who has mapped the counties and the congressional districts into the same space.  I know this can be done with ESRI products, but  I wanted to avoid jumping off the JMP platform....
