  • Scale large images before analyzing

Recently a customer asked me this question:I am working with your image analyzer and have a request that I don't think would be hard to implement (says the JSL hack).  Could you add an option to only load every xth pixel? The answer is yes, I could do that for the next version of the Image Analyzer, and it wouldn't be that hard to do. But one way to get a similar result now is to scale the image ...

  • Blending images in JSL

One of our very talented JMP interns, juliagong, just posted a script for blending two images together, called Bannerfy. She created it so she could make a banner for her LinkedIn account. It gave me an idea. I could blend two images together to create a new profile picture. So I borrowed her code and did just that. Check out my new profile pic. Thanks Julia!

  • PNM Import

Years ago I worked with some file formats that were collectively known as PNM. They included PBM - Portable Bit Map, PGM - Portable Gray Map and PPM - Portable Pixel map, which is RGB pixels. Although those formats don't seem very popular these days, I recently came across a JMP customer who is still using them and they wanted to read the files into JMP. JMP currently supports image formats like P...

  • Periodic Table of Elements in JMP

Did you ever want to explore the Periodic Table of Elements in JMP? One customer did so I created the shape files for the table and I uploaded them to the File Exchange at Shape files for the Periodic Table of Elements.  I also created a JMP data table of the elements, with information like element name and atomic number. You can download that file from Periodic Table of Elements Example. You can...

  • Image Analyzer Update

Back in January, 2015, I posted a JSL script I wrote called the Image Analyzer. I just released a new update to it. Now it is packaged as an Add-in, which means if you install it you will find it under the Add-ins menu in JMP. I also modified it to detect when a gray-scale image is read in. If you open a gray-scale image, the data table that gets generated will no longer include columns for RGB an...

  • Belgium Shape Files for JMP

With JMP Discovery Summit in Brussels right around the corner, I decided to put some shape files for Belgium on the File Exchange. There are shape files for the Belgium Provinces and for the cities of Belgium. I hope you find these useful.

  • Image Analyzer Script

I recently added a new script to the File Exchange, called theImage Analyzer. It extends the functionality of some scripts that I wrote previously for image handling. Like with previous scripts, you can open an image and it will be displayed in a window as well as create a data table from the image. But now, from the data table you can perform your analysis, such as a Distribution of the intensity...
