Please excuse the simplicity of the request.  I am trying to use a column formula to determine the quintile for a column of values that are divided into specific groups in another column.  The data look something like this:ClassYearClassRankQuintile2010120102201032010420105201112011220113I want the formula in the quintile column to determine in what quintile the class rank is depending on the year...

  • How to find the minimum value of selected rows within a column?

Hi all,I am writing a script, and I need to search for the minimum value in a column but only within a few rows.  Is there a way to do select these rows using the minimum function?I thought about creating a subset and then using the minimum function, but I was wondering if there was a simpler way. Thanks!

  • JMP Formula

I have a quick question, does anyone know how you would approach using this Excel formula in the JMP Pro 12 formula platform to generate decile of equal distribution without using the cut point system? How do you get the INT component of the formula below in JMP? Assuming the total rows of your data table is 218086 and you want to have decile of 20,000 plus. This is what I use in Excel, but it be ...

  • Updating JMP Data Tables

In September, I posted a question about updating JMP Data Tables, but got no replies.  However, I was able to figure it out and feel that others might have the same problem.  The Tables<Update works fine if you have changed existing data in your master data table.  However, if you add rows of data to the bottom of your master table, the new data will not update.   This was driving me crazy until I...

  • Printing List of Columns (variables?)

Just checking to see if this is available...Is there a way to print out the entire list of columns/variables in a study (with short and long names) for reference?  With a very large database, it can sometimes be difficult to navigate through the list and could be handy to have an entire printout if available.  Thanks!

  • Graph Builder heat map: how to share the same scale for all years?

HiI want to show the spread and growth of the population over time and space. I’m using Graph Builder to map population density (see below). I can produce quite nice heat maps but the density seems to be calculated separately for each year. Is there a way to share the same scale for all years so the colours will have the same meaning across maps?Thanks.C.B.

  • Finding a relative path in a network

I would like JMP to pick up a "template-table" from the same directory that the script is located. This pathway may vary depending on user due to network setup (for example for me the disk is named K but for other users it might be named L or N). I've managed to use the following "fixed" link:TempTable = "K:\...\TableTemplate.jmp";open (TempTable);(this setup works)the data table is located in the...

  • Co-Kriging with JMP and Matlab

Hi!I was wondering if anyone already tried to work with Co-Kriging, using JMP together with Matlab. As JMP only fits Ordinary Kriging Models (Gaussian Process with Gaussian Correlation Function), I would like to send data (generated with Space Filling JMP Platform) from JMP to Matlab, fit the models there (Matlab), and bring the MODELS back to JMP, to use inside Profile Platform. Do you have any e...

I'm trying to interpret the relative contributions of my variables in a discriminant function analysis of chemical data for three groups of rocks.  In a stepwise, linear, common covariance discriminant function analysis I'm able to generate non-overlapping 95% confidence ellipses for my three groups with no incorrectly assigned data points using 6 variables.  My understanding is that the scoring c...

  • Generalized Segmented Distributions

A former classmate of mine from Graduate School has recently published a paper on Generalized Segmented Distributions.  Utilizing this method, the distribution can approach any continuous density function of arbitrary form.  The method is particularly effective in fitting data with sufficient observations that are skewed and/or multimodal.  The paper can be found here:The General Segmented Distrib...
