  • Importing XML directly to data tables

Hello,I want to import a data set from (well formed) XML directly into a data table. This is something that Excel can do so I'm sure JMP can! The XML and the final data tables look like the examples below; there are a set of tests with results for individual pins, associated with a die, all part of an overall lot, with associated attributes such as tester or x,y coordinates (it's based on semicond...

  • Augmenting a Full Factorial Design

This is based on a recent collaboration with a colleague.  He had executed a 3 factor full factorial design with 2 centerpoint runs (a classical, easy design for 3 factors).  The results of the analysis of the  design showed strong lack of fit, and test for "curvature" (i.e. that there is a quadratic effect missing in the model) was conducted, and that had strong statistical significance.  With th...

  • Select specific columns with JSL name contains code

The Name contains script:   Names Default To Here( 1 ); dt = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA/Big Class.jmp" ); New Window( "Filter Col Selector Example", fontobj = lb = Filter Col Selector( width( 250 ) ) ); lb << Name contains( "a" );   delviers all colums, which contains a. What code must be added in order to mark one of these columns by clicking or double clikking the column from the list box?

  • Prediction Interval for Poisson Distribution

Dear JMP Communities, I have data that are count/space. In my case, (number of events occured / time). As such, it is naturally I would fit these data using Discrete Fit > Poisson. Afterwards, JMP produces the fitted Poisson with results of Upper/Lower 95% Confidence Interval per below photo.       My question is : How do I get Upper/Lower 95% Prediction Interval? Thanks for the pointer. B.r,Chris

  • Repeated measures ANOVA in JMP

Greetings -We'd like to add a repeated measures ANOVA to the analyses that our introductory bio students use. I've found two examples via JMP (help manual within JMP 10, attached,re and also the JMP website, here: http://www.jmp.com/support/notes/30/584.html) -- which each seem to go about this in a different way (in terms of process). So - wondering what method other users choose for repeated meas...

  • how do you get an r2 and AICc value for a custom nonlinear regression model? How do you adjust the curve for built in regression models?

I don't know what equation best fits the line. I think that the curve for some of my data looks like a power function. Since I don't know the exponent, I used the custom model for nonlinear regression. I need an R2 and AICc values to compare different models. I created a column using the power equation and then went to analyze to modeling to nonlinear and put in my y values and then put in the pow...

  • What is the meaning of numerical arguments in Legend or Overlay functions?

Hi,I am a newbie to JSL. I am very confusing about the argument values of legend and overlay functions in Graph Builder. For example,  19-21 and 25-27 in the following script. When I change these values, the graph seems no changes. Besides, I found "Overlay( 0 )" in some scripts. What are the meaning of these values? Thanks a lot in advance! dt = Open("$SAMPLE_DATA/Hybrid Fuel Economy.jmp"); dt <...

  • Selecting Number of Clusters in Hierarchical Clustering

One way to select possible number of clusters in hierarchical methods is to identify the relatively large changes in distance as number of clusters change (see table below). When I look at the actual distance measure from the table (clustering history below dendogram), there is a bigger jump from 3 clusters to 4 than from 4 to 5 (smaller), suggesting 4 may be the right decision. However, when you ...

  • Beta Generalized Regression and adjusted chi-square values

I have a data set from a two-choice rodent feeding trial. We were testing the effectiveness of 10 deterrents by coating them on seeds and offering them to rodents alongside control seeds that were uncoated. • DF Dens for repeated measures ANOVAs

Dear JMP Community, When I run repeated measures ANOVAs with JMP (RMS, with Subject as a random factor), I have noticed that when a certain factor is crossed with Subject, the corresponding DF Den stays independent while the DF Dens for the other factors are put together as “Residual”.  Please see Images 1-3 of the attached file on how “DF Den” under “Test Denominator Synthesis” change across imag...

  • Partition and Pruning

I'm working with a dataset of about 27,000 rows and am trying to use 9 factors to predict a response using the partition function and a decision tree.  I'm using both k-means and validation.  When I tell JMP to Go, it will split 100-200 times, however the Split History shows me very little improvement after about 20 splits. For what I'm trying to do, I want to back up to the 20th split, but I don'...

  • I want to use LASSO and Group LASSO in JMP

I'm involved in a project where we are applying lasso to build a logistic regression model from a "black box" set of predictors.  I need to get JMP Pro before trying out JMP's implementation.  I'm doing all the analysis in R at present.  Does JMP Pro also include group lasso?  I've found through using JMP Cluster Variables (CLUSVAR) that I can naturally group my predictors prior to group lasso.  F...
