  • Query regarding design using categorical factors

    JMP student edition 18
I was trying a custom design with 2 categorical factors and 3 levels. All effects -main and interaction show non significant p value despite using the recommended 9 run by the software.

  • Control Chart with subgroups entering the project at different times

We are created a process across 9 different divisions. All the Divisions did not start at the same time. As other Divisions learned of the initial cohort success, they joined the project. In aggregate, by December 2023 we were consistently achieving 93% success. We created a control chart using the Numerators and denominators of all the Divisions participating in each month. Therein lies the ...

  • If you fit a block as a fixed effect in a saturated model, and its effect is not significant after you reduce it via stepwise regression, do you need to add it back to the model?

This was posted to the JMP blog yesterday where Phil Kay describes reducing a saturated model with a block effect. He says the random block should be added as a fixed effect 1st in this specific case, then after you reduce the model via stepwise regression, you should re-fit the reduced model & add the block as a random effect. In his example the block was significant after he reduced the model. I...

  • Encoding of categorical variables

Hi everyone, I'm interested in an *easy* recoding of categorical variables in JMP. Depending on the variables I want to do this to be able to specify which levels should be compared to each other. If I include all levels in the model I want to get p-values for exactly the differences I want to see or I want to do a model selection and just include certain differences of levels. In these cases the ...

  • Prior parameter variance

Hi,   I am trying to understand the Prior Parameter Variance option for the Bayesian D-optimal design. JMP help says: "The value that you enter is the square root of the reciprocal of the prior variance. A larger value represents a smaller variance and therefore more prior information that the effect is not active." I am a bit confused, since I thought that if I enter larger value, that would info...

  • Choose between Plackett-Burman and Custom Design when having disallowed combinations

Hello, We want to run a screening DOE with 22 2-Levels factors, nearly all of them being categorical, and we wanted to use a Plackett-Burman with 24 runs in order to minimize the runs. But we have some combinations that are not possible to achieve, for example we will try a coating in either one or two layers and we want either to rinse or not between the two layers. But of course this rinsing mak...

  • Can I add a factor to an existting DOE and/or change the values of any run in an existting DOE?

Hi, I developed a DOE model with 3 factors (one categorical) for a specific time (7 days) containing 16 runs. Later I used the same DOE but now for samples (runs) with a loger time (28 days). Now, I have decided to add the time as a factor but I want to keep the runs that a I have (16 runs for 7 days, and 16 runs for 28 days); to improve the quality of the model I decided to add center points to t...

  • Question about Response Surface and Blocking

    Hi JMP Community,
I am interested in conducting RSM studies for two factors using CCD Orthogonal setup including 3 replicates. After finishing the setup, I get 52 as my total sample size. However, I won't be able to test all the samples in one day. I wanted to ask if it is possible to combine blocking with RSM. I also tried using CCD Orthogonal blocking, but it's only giving me two blocks since I a...

  • Sample size for Reliability Life Test

I have used the interval explorer for parametric reliability life test planning for sample size calculation of accelerated life test. Please can someone confirm if the sample size returned is the total sample size or sample size per stress levels? Assuming I have 3 temperature levels, do I use 75 samples per temperature level or 25?

  • help to get R squared predicted

Hello!I installed a script from a community response regarding the calculation of R²pred, as shown in the image below (I'm using JMP 18 pro): (link da resposta do @erich_gundlach https://community.jmp.com/t5/JMP-Add-Ins/Predicted-R-square-calculator/ta-p/39927)  In PRESS, R²pred didn't appear. (Press is low because I haven't reduced the model yet, don't worry =))  I really need to show these R²pre...
