  • Design of experiment for 2 categorical factors and one continuous factor

Hi JMP experts I struggle in deciding which DOE I should use for my experiment. I have 2 categorical factors ( 3 levels each), one continuous factor and the response is continuous (growth rate). The goal is to optimize the combination of these factors to get maximum growth. What would be the best DOE to use?I would appreciate your help! Thanks!A

  • Solution in RS (D-optimal)

Hello everybody, I've successfully run my first RS design but I struggle to understand the solution provided after fitting the model. My design includes 5 continous factors with 4 axial points and 2 center points. I did 1 replicate and fitted the model. There is no significant lack of fit. The goal is to minimized the response and but the solution is higher than all of my measured values. I includ...

  • Defining Factor Constraints

Hi all,  I am trying to create a design with 7 continuous factors, 2 levels each. However due to technical constraints I can not perform the combination of factor 1 (levels 2 & 5) at anything below its maximum in combination with factor 2 (levels 5 & 10) at anything above its minimum. When I add a constraint for F1 min level (2) and F2 max level (10) it gives me a design using 2.15 and 9.75 instea...

  • Changing Design Roll after making Custom DOE table

Is it allowed to change Design Roll in column property from Discrete Numerical to Continuous in Custom DOE table? If I make Custom DOE with Discrete Numerical factor, no wonder I can select only discrete value when analyzing response. However continuous value becomes available when I change Design Roll into Continuous. Prediction expression of the model does not change and response is consistent. ...

  • Harmonization of X structure

Dear all, I have a set data covering temperature dependent measurements  with the temperature as my designated X-value and the measurement output as Y.The heating rate differed slightly, therefore the X-data is slightly different for every measurement e.g. Measurement 1: T1=20.00 °C, T2= 20.12 °C, T3= 20.25 °CMeasurement 2: T2=19.98 °C, T3= 20.11 °C, T3= 20.26 °C,.. For further evaluation (chemome...

  • Simplifying steps in DoE

I am doing road-map of using DoE here in our department. Here are my thoughts. Please correct me if I am wrong.  Step 1. Identify if the factors are continuous and 2-level categorical. Then use DSD because identifies main effects and second order effects. Quadratic effects are orthogonal to main effects and not completely confounded with two-factor interactions. A quadratic effect might be correl...

  • What technique do I use to justify eliminating measurements at a specific timepoint in a series?

I have measurements of an attribute at initial, 2hr, 4hr, 6hr. I want to drop the 4hr measurements because it does not add much value to the business application.  The measurements exhibit a negative slope from initial to final... What technique or rationale might I use to justify eliminating the 4hr measurement? [I was thinking along the lines of Information Gain, but I admit I don't know much ab...

  • DoE with two-choice experiments, continuous response variable

We want to rank the preference  of population of animals for n different recipes. Recipes are tested in two-choice assays, where groups of over 100 individuals can choose one choice or the other. Preference for the group is computed as a preference index, a continuous variable that is between -1 and 1. Is there an experimental design that would help reduce the number of combinations to test in ord...

  • Sub-sampling data analysis in JMP

In Biology (Plant Sci. and Agriculture) usually we have sub-sampling data for replicates. It's very difficult to analyze these data in commonly use Stat S/W (SPSS/Minitab) because MSS(Error) is calculating wrongly.  Without taking averages of samsamples, the easiest S/W for this is using JMP and I need some assistance for this. I've found very useful Youtube video about subsampling in JMP  (CRD: S...
