  • Questions about "number of starts" and "search time"

Could anyone help me understand "number of starts" and "search time"? 1. Will increase "number of starts" or use much longer "search time" provide a better optimal design?2. What is a good guess for "number of starts"? i.e., let us say a split-plot design with 5 whole plots and 25 subplots.  Thanks!

  • How do Space Filling designs automatically generate a run number? Also, can someone please explain the "discrepancy" and "MaxPro" statistics?

Hi,  I’m a biological scientist aiming to physically execute a space filling DoE using Fast Flexible filling to test 11 factors (10 continuous and 1 categorical) to characterise an enzymatic reaction. When I generate the design I see that JMP has populated the run number box with 110 runs. If I add another factor, this goes up to 120 and if I reduce a factor it decreases 100 and so on. Can anyone ...

  • Add levels to an augmented design

Hi, I would like to adopt an existing design. The current design has four factors with two levels. Now I would like to add at least one or two levels to two factors.
Is it possible to use augment design or is there another way? Until now I found no answer to adopt the design.
    Best regards, Andre!

  • New Column : Set Initial Value from List Data

Hi The script will read numeric column name from the file. If there is only 1 column, I want to create the new column and assign value in the column with the header reading from file.  In below case, the new column should have initial value = ITH I use below script but it doesn't assign the initial value. Not sure why. ColList2 = Data Table( "raw data" ) << get column names( numeric ); if(n items...

  • Which Run order I have to choose for my DoE?

Hello,I want to perform a DoE in order to optimize an extraction method. My plan is to start with a screening of the main factors using Plackett Burman followed by a central composite design in order to do a response surface. Before making a Design tube I should choose a Run order (sort left to right, sort right to left, randomize...) and I do not know which run order I should choose for each of m...

  • DOE Question: Contraints on Categorical Factors

I would appreciate some advice...  I am running a screening experiment with strictly categorical factors and trying to identify the primary source of variation in my response.  The experiment involves material going into a surface process (known significant effect), followed by a bake (which needs to be done in batches to process everything through - any oven run to oven run variation?), followed ...

  • How to design a DOE covering 3 systems, 8 factors and 6 products resulting in one optimal setting?

I'm designing a DOE design with 7 variables that are all continuous. My expectation is 2 of these factors will probably have an optimum curve that is not linear, I also expect interactions between my variables.  I have 3pc of the system I'm testing on and my system needs to be able to handle 6 different products - my problem is that I need to find one compromise in settings that provide the optima...

  • Sub-sampling data analysis in JMP

In Biology (Plant Sci. and Agriculture) usually we have sub-sampling data for replicates. It's very difficult to analyze these data in commonly use Stat S/W (SPSS/Minitab) because MSS(Error) is calculating wrongly.  Without taking averages of samsamples, the easiest S/W for this is using JMP and I need some assistance for this. I've found very useful Youtube video about subsampling in JMP  (CRD: S...
