JMP Wish List

I really love the Venn diagram add-in, and I know you can "copy to journal," but would it be possible to enable "copy to script" for them? I know it's not a big deal to start from scratch for simple Venn diagrams, but sometimes I have to create more complex ones, in which case just simply clicking on the script saved in the file would greatly speed things up (otherwise, I need to remember how to set it up properly in the table!).  ... Contrast in Generalized Linear Model doesnt save as script and not accessible in script - so if you set up contrasts, the redo only adds the contrasts button and you have to re-enter all the contrasts.    It would also be good to be able to specify the reference category. In general the parameterisation should be more controllable or at least obvious.  A lot of users seem unaware that standard least squares and nominal logistic personalities use centered X's (ie mean reference category) whereas Generalized Regression and Generalized Linear Model use the reduced rank approach - ie zero'ing one of the levels like SAS does.  It would be good to have control over that, ie specify which level gets zero'ed or if mean subtraction should be used.  IT would be good to have the same approach and features available in all the regression procedures as far as possible and make everything JSl accessible. ... Advanced users obtain results of platforms (e.g., Fit Model) by scripts. But for this, JMP forces the user to "scrape" the report, which is painful. It will be very helpful if the analysis results are, like in R, returned in a structured way, e.g., as an Associative Array. ... View more

Currentaly (in JMP 14.3), on reports of platforms like Fit Model, all the levels (unique values) of a Column is shown in the Parameter Estimates (and also in Indicator Parameterization Estimates) table, but the reference value does NOT appear on this report, which is confusing. Every Column has Format and this should be respected in reports. The current problem is that, for example, when Distribution of a Column representing a date or time is shown, meaningless numbers are shown as mean, median, etc. ... View more

Predictive models with binary Y that allow cross validation, eg k-fold or leave one out, the confusion matrix reflect only the last iteration of the cross classification. For example in 5-fold cross validation the training set has 80% of the data and the Validation set shows 20%.  The validation set should combine all 5 folds of the data to show 100%.  For leave one out it is even more useless as the validation set only has a single observation.   ... It would be great to create a pacakge in python. So, that We can import the package python and call the jsl from python itself.    I have a jsl script which will generate plots and save to a particular location. I want to call this script from python and in back-end, it will run the script in JMP and save the plots. Folks,   Currently, the Edit | Reformat Script command does a really nice job of reformatting JSL script so that all indentations are properly aligned.  However, this command is wrapping any text in a row that exceeds something in the order of 130 characters, regardless of the Wrap Text setting in Preferences.  I often organize/format my JSL in ways to aid in readability and organization which results in rather long rows (I have multiple large monitors which facilitiates the proper display of these long rows of characters).  Unfortunately, any time I run Edit | Reformat Script my long rows of JSL commands are wrapped in ways that makes it difficult to read and see my code structure.  I would appreciate it if the underlying value in Edit | Reformat Script that limits how many characters can be on a row is increased dramatically, or even eliminated.  If the character limitation was eliminated, the Wrap Text property in Preferences could handle text that extends beyond the size of a given window, regardless of monitor size.  Thanks for listening! ... As we are all aware, a good deal of the time we spend on analyzing datasets is in preparing them for the analysis (ie- cleaning, organizing, formating, etc.).  Frequently I work with datasets that are updated with new data periodically and I would like to have the ability to script all the dataset preparations steps so they can be executed with the new data.  JMP has the ability to script analyses and graphing but not the dataset preparation steps.  I hope that other members of this community would find this fuctionality valuable.  If you would like to see this implemented please add your kudo to the rest of us.  Many thanks, Floyd Fox ... In the Text Explorer platform there is an ID role, but it appears to be unused.  I have large blocks of patient narrative text that are identified by case numbers.  When I click on Show Text in the text explorer window the only way to know which narrative is shown is by the row number.  It would be great if the variable selected by the ID role was shown above the block of text with the chosen word/phrase in it.  Here's an example using the Aircraft Incidents sample dataset: ... JMP has the best plotting facilities I have used, but a version for Mac OS (or Windows for that matter) is prohibitively expensive and the free Graph Builder for iPad requires owning an iPad.   Will like to request a Graph Builder or a simplified version of JMP (e.g. JMP-Lite) that would have at a minimum the graphing functions, the scripting and ability to import/export excel or csv files.    This could be offerred at a lower cost than the full version of JMP. ... When using JSL, update the Make Validation Column function to accept column names for Stratified Random, Grouped Random, and Cutpoint options. I know you can use formula random and add a by(:Group) but there should be a direct way to do this. What inspired this wish list request? The myJMP portal currently lacks essential administrative capabilities required for managing users and licenses at scale. As an administrator, user provisioning must be performed manually because there is no support for Active Directory (AD) security group–based provisioning or SCIM integration. This makes onboarding, offboarding, and license management time-consuming, error-prone, and difficult to sustain as the user base grows. Additionally, there is no visibility into actual JMP usage. Administrators cannot determine who is actively using JMP, as the portal does not provide basic analytics such as last login date or recent activity, despite JMP already validating licenses through myJMP. Example use case: When an employee joins or leaves the organization, licenses must be manually assigned or revoked, and there is no reliable way to identify inactive users to reclaim licenses. This leads to inefficient license utilization and unnecessary administrative overhead. What is the improvement you would like to see? Automated user provisioning via: Active Directory security group mapping SCIM-based provisioning and deprovisioning This would allow users to be automatically granted or removed access to JMP based on enterprise identity management policies. User activity and license usage analytics, including: Last login date per user Active vs. inactive user indicators Basic usage reporting within the myJMP admin portal Comparable enterprise software platforms routinely provide these capabilities as standard administrative features. Why is this idea important? These improvements are critical for effective license governance, operational efficiency, and scalability. Manual license management is not sustainable in modern enterprise environments and directly results in productivity loss for support teams. What inspired this wish list request?  Currently if you are required to hit minimum power requirements for specific expierement effects you need to generate the design, check the power analysis, evaluate if you met the requirements.... if not you need to return to the design and make changes (add replicates, ect). It would be ideal if we can specify RMSE, alpha, and power in the factor definition table.    What is the improvement you would like to see?  It would be ideal if we can specify RMSE, alpha, and power in the factor definition table and when the design is generated it takes this into consideration and provides designs which meet the expirement confidence requirements.        Why is this idea important?  It is important because the current optimization method is focused on minimizing cost while maximizing learnings. Working with multiple open data tables in JMP often creates implicit dependencies (e.g., linked Summary and  Subset tables). In the GUI, the “view associated data” icon reveals these relationships, but there is no equivalent JSL functionality. [TS-00278736]This makes it difficult to safely close tables or manage temporary analysis outputs.   What is the improvement you would like to see? I would like a complete JSL API to query and manage dependencies between open data tables and their associated reports. Ideally, this would include: dt << GetMainTable(); to return the parent data table. dt << GetDependentTables(); to return all child tables derived from it. dt << HasUnsavedReports(); and dt << GetAssociatedReports(); to detect report windows not saved as table scripts. A global function such as GetOpenTableDependencyGraph(); returning the full dependency graph of all open tables. These APIs should expose the same dependency information that JMP already shows in the Windows List. Why is this idea important? Scripted workflows need reliable ways to prevent accidental loss of dependent tables or reports when closing a parent table. A JSL‑level dependency graph would improve robustness, automate cleanup procedures, and allow consistent management of derived tables.
