## Save summaries from a control chart as invisible

I am working on a script to create a control chart, save the summaries for Moving Range average, and close the summary window and control chart after. I want to make sure that the summaries table is invisible, but currently the table shows up, and then closes. This is a problem for me because I need to do this over 100 times, and having 100 summary tables flashing open and closed is likely to give me a seizure.

Is there a way I can make the Summary table invisible, or a better way to mine the moving range average data from a control chart?

MR_AVG = function({s},
MR = dt4 << Control Chart(
Sample Label( :Lot Number ),
Group Size( 1 ),
KSigma( 3 ),
Chart Col( column(dt4, s), Moving Range ),
"invisible"
);

MovingRange = MR << save summaries(invisible(1));
mravg = column("average moving range" || " " || s)[1];
MR << close window;
close( no save);
);

## Re: Save summaries from a control chart as invisible

it appears the Save Summaries does not honor the "Invisible" option.  However, if you change from using the Control Chart Platform to Control Chart Builder, you can directly strip off the average you want....see my sample script below

Names Default To Here( 1 );
dt = Open( "\$SAMPLE_DATA\big class.jmp" );
ccb = Control Chart Builder(
invisible,
Size( 528, 454 ),
Show Control Panel( 0 ),
Show Capability( 0 ),
Variables( Y( :height ) ),
Chart(
Position( 1 ),
Points( Statistic( "Moving Range" ) ),
Limits( Sigma( Moving Range ) )
),
Chart( Position( 2 ), Limits( Sigma( Moving Range ) ) )
);

mravg = (Report( ccb )[Number Col Box( 2 )] << get)[1];

ccb << close window();

## Re: Save summaries from a control chart as invisible

The control chart builder is definitely a better platform to accomplish what I want, but I was not able to strip off the moving range average using the message to the report as in your answer. Is there any way I can access the report from the control chart builder to see what it looks like so that I can take the moving range average?

## Re: Save summaries from a control chart as invisible

1. If you right click on the Gray Triangle next to the Outline Box titled "Control Chart Builder, and select

Edit==>Show Tree Structure

it will give you a display of all of the objects within the output

If you did not get a value for the variable "mravg" in the sample script I enclosed, you may be running on an older version of JMP that had a slightly different output structure.  What version of JMP are you running?

I am using JMP 9. Does this version of JMP support the control chart builder?

JMP 9 does not have Control Chart Builder, but it does have the different control charts available as separate platforms.
