How do I colour data points in PCA according to colours in cluster analysis?

Hi, I performed a cluster analysis and coloured the clusters. In a subsequent PCA, how can I apply the colouring from the hierarchical cluster analysis to the data points in the PCA? Thanks so much for your time. Andreas

Re: Colour data points in PCA according to colours in cluster analysis

That seems to be happening for me automatically.

I did a cluster analysis and chose Color Clusters from the red triangle menu.

Then when I choose Analyze -> Multivariate Methods -> Principal Components, the Summary Plots and Biplot are colored by the clusters.

Can you give us some more details on what you've tried and what plots aren't colored as you'd like?

Re: Colour data points in PCA according to colours in cluster analysis

I want to colour a score plot in PCA according to the original groups. Using the method above colours the points according to the clustering in e.g hierarchial analysis

Re: Colour data points in PCA according to colours in cluster analysis

Hi @rcmjh ,

What do you mean by original groups?

Thanks,

Ben

Colour according to classification such as male/female. Then can see if there is any grouping accordingly in plots such as PCA scatter plot.

Re: Colour data points in PCA according to colours in cluster analysis

If I'm understanding correctly and you have a column with the classification, then Rows > Color by Mark or Column can color each row this way. If you'd like to switch back and forth between the cluster colors and classification colors, then creating and using a Row State column would be helpful.
