Bivariate Platform Question

Is it possible to add a straight line of my own choosing to a bivariate plot?  It appears that you can edit the least squares fit line, but nothing happens when I change the intercept and slope.  I need to plot the historic data against a "goal" line, which is a ratio of my x vs. y (i.e., Y = 0.8 X).

Thanks for any help!

Solution

You can add a line, or any custom curve, with a graphics script. Right-click and pick Customize... In the dialog, press the + sign and choose Y function from the Templates dropdown.

A  jsl example:

Names Default To Here(1);

dt = Open("$SAMPLE_DATA/Big Class.jmp");

biv = Bivariate(Y(:weight), X(:height), Fit Line(), );

Report(biv)[Framebox(1)] << Add Graphics Script(Y Function(1.8 * X, X));
