Is it possible to add a straight line of my own choosing to a bivariate plot? It appears that you can edit the least squares fit line, but nothing happens when I change the intercept and slope. I need to plot the historic data against a "goal" line, which is a ratio of my x vs. y (i.e., Y = 0.8 X).

Solution

You can add a line, or any custom curve, with a graphics script. Right-click and pick *Customize*... In the dialog, press the + sign and choose *Y function* from the *Templates* dropdown.

A jsl example:

Names Default To Here**(****1****)**;

dt = Open**(**"$SAMPLE_DATA/Big Class.jmp"**)**;

biv = Bivariate**(**Y**(**:weight**)**, X**(**:height**)**, Fit Line**()**, **)**;

Report**(**biv**)[**Framebox**(****1****)]** << **Add Graphics Script****(**Y Function**(****1.8** * X, X**))**;
