  • Are power caldualtions in mixture experiments reliable?

In a ternary 12-run mixture experiment using a special Sheffé model I get only 5% power of the compnents; this means 95% chance that component effect can't be observed? Are power calculations in mixture experiments reliable taking into account high collinearity among factors?

  • XGboost training, validation and testing

Hello, I have a question about handling test datasets in XGBoost. Here's my current approach: I'm using 10-fold cross-validation for model training and validationI keep a separate test dataset completely excluded during this training phase (hide and exclude in the table before launching the model)After training, I manually generate predictions on this test dataset (save predicted to table and I un...

  • Simulate vs Bootstrap methods in JMP: which to use when and why

Hi All,   I'm hoping someone from JMP might be able to provide an explanation as the the differences/similarities of the Simulate vs Bootstrap approaches when evaluating model estimates. (JMP Pro)   Some links to previous Discovery Summit presentations from Gotwalt and others can be found here, here, and here. One clear difference between the methods is that Simulate requires you to swap out a col...

  • Mixture-Process Design or Response Surface Design

Hello everyone,   I am writing to ask for advice on designing an experiment to optimize a somewhat complicated chemical reaction. Here is what it involves: A substrate (1.0 eq) reacts with a mixture of two reagents called RA and RB. The total amount of RA and RB is always 0.5 eq. The proportions of RA and RB vary within the mixture of these two reactants.
RA varies from 38% to 62%, and RB also vari...

  • How are the level settings of a ternary contour plot determined?

Find below a ternary contour plot with legend settings: how are the levels in legend settings determined?  In the orange (maximum) Yield window I would like to see more levels; is it possible to increase the contour plot levels?

Any idea why some of the error bands are wide, and some are thin lines? It might be all wide, or all thin - I can't understand what it depends on and how to control it. Any ideas?

  • Regarding Summary Plots and Missing Values in Principal Components Analysis

I have some questions about the summary plot in principal components calculation. The figure below shows the principal components results of the big class dataset for weight and height.   However, I don’t understand the mathematical meaning of the plot on the right. Weight point lies in the first quadrant—what does this imply? Also, what does the radius length represent?   Additionally, the fig...
