  • How do I create a frequency table from a histogram distribution?

I want to save a histogram with a defined bin size of a continuous response variable as a table with one row for each bin in the histogram. Each row would  have the beginning bin value, ending bin value and count of data rows from the original data set. I have searched in the forum and via Google. I need to be able to do this today and I am hoping JMP can do this quickly.(Sorry if this is a duplic...

  • How to create a CDF plot without using the Fit Y by X platform interactively?

hi, Here is an example, using big class data table. In order to get the CDF plot, I have to do a y by x and enable CDF option to get it. My question is how to plot CDF plot without doing y by x plot? I scratched my hair very hard, no vial.     Oneway(   SendToByGroup( Bygroup Default ),   Y( :weight ),   SendToByGroup( {:age == 12}, Y( :weight ) ),   X( :sex ),   SendToByGroup( {:age == 12}, X( :...

  • How to directly query Honeywell Process History Database from JMP?

Hello to you out there that also work in process plants that use Honeywell control systems and process data historian (Honeywell PHD)! Like me, you probably spend a lot of time analyzing process data. You probably use the PHD Excel Add-in to get the data into MSExcel and then export to JMP. Has anyone out there figured out how to directly query PHD from JMP and bypass Excel? I've seen this done wi...

  • terminology: red triangle vs. hot spot

A friend who introduced me to JMP always refers to the red triangle menu as hot spot. Why is it so? And why discontinue the usage as evidenced in the JMP help files? - Randy, JMP newbie.

  • Problem with adjusting number of levels for group Y in graph builder

I have a problem with adjusting number of levels for group Y in graph builder. I have 70 levels and would like to display all of them in the y group on the right side. I choose to show all levels and "number of levels" as 7 because I would like it to display it in sets of 10 (1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc. up to 61-70) It always gives me some odd arrangement of the levels: 1-9, 9-18, 18-26, 26-32, 32-39...

  • How to make JSL save empty CSV file?

Is there any way to make JSL save an empty CSV file (meaning only column headers present)?I would expect JSL to save the CSV file with the 1 row of column headers (and no other rows).  But instead JSL errors out.I'm using JMP 11.1.1. Let me know if you know any solutions (other than reconstructing the file with concatenation strings and commas and saving). thanks, DJ

  • Co-Kriging with JMP and Matlab

Hi!I was wondering if anyone already tried to work with Co-Kriging, using JMP together with Matlab. As JMP only fits Ordinary Kriging Models (Gaussian Process with Gaussian Correlation Function), I would like to send data (generated with Space Filling JMP Platform) from JMP to Matlab, fit the models there (Matlab), and bring the MODELS back to JMP, to use inside Profile Platform. Do you have any e...

I'm trying to interpret the relative contributions of my variables in a discriminant function analysis of chemical data for three groups of rocks.  In a stepwise, linear, common covariance discriminant function analysis I'm able to generate non-overlapping 95% confidence ellipses for my three groups with no incorrectly assigned data points using 6 variables.  My understanding is that the scoring c...

  • Generalized Segmented Distributions

A former classmate of mine from Graduate School has recently published a paper on Generalized Segmented Distributions.  Utilizing this method, the distribution can approach any continuous density function of arbitrary form.  The method is particularly effective in fitting data with sufficient observations that are skewed and/or multimodal.  The paper can be found here:The General Segmented Distrib...
