  • importing from Excel

I have JMP v8 on a Macintosh with OS 10.5.8

When I try to import data from Excel, the files with xls extension are selectable while those with xlsx are not. Is there any way to select xlsx files?

  • How do I add error bars to bivariate fit (y by x)?

I am plotting line graphs using analyze>fit y by x. I get a series of points that I then group by treatment and fit each value. I have been unable to get a nice line graph with error bars. I am currently exporting the data back into excel in order to get this graph. Any advice??

  • How do I make cells blank>

    Hi,

I'm new to jmp, so please forgive me if this is a dumb question...

How do I replace numerical values in a cell with blanks if they do not meet a certain criteria or otherwise exclude them? If I set a filter, it ends up filtering out the entire row, which is not what I want to do (there's other useful data in that row).

    Thanks!

  • Using Row Subscript

How can I use the row subscript function to get the maximum value from another column for all rows preceding the current row?
Here is what I would like to do:
(current row value)/(Max row value from only the rows above current row)

  • Urgent question: interaction effects without main effect

I encountered one problem when I try to include an interaction factor in one model.
JMP doesn't allow me to include the interaction effect without the main effect. It looks like the model must include both main effects if I want to have the interaction effect in the model, for example, JMP accept y=a+b+a*b, but not accept y=a+a*b

    anybody can answer my question?thanks.

  • Random Parameters in Profiler?

I am evaluating JMP (currently V. 7, but my company is in the upgrade process) and I am particularly interested in figuring out how to use the Profiler for some of my frequent activities. Can anyone help with the following?

I would like to simulate a function F(x, theta(i)) over a range of x values. Theta(i) is a set of parameters drawn from a multivariate-normal distribution for each individual ...

  • Overlay normal quantile plots without long string labels

    Hello,

I am a longtime user of JMP7. To make overlay normal quantile plots I use Fit Y by X, where Y is the continual variable like Height and X is a categorical variable like Gender. Using Right-click/Legend gives a nice color coded legend for the curves, but JMP also tries to label each curve way up at the top (upper quantile) end of the curve. Invariably these are ugly and overlap each other. ...
