  • What's the difference between JMP and SAS

I have access to both JMP8.x and SAS9.x.

I searched this forum and the SAS website but didn't find anything.
Any thoughts on the differences (strengths/weakness) between JMP & SAS?

    Thanks.

  • JMP Partition/Decision tree - Model Selection and Validation with Test Set

    Hi forum members,

I have the following problem. I want to do classification using SAS Jmp Partition.
The dataset has 2 classes: positive and negative. I wrote a JSL script that loads
the dataset from file. The test set is defined by excluding a certain amount of rows
and doing training of the decision tree on the training set (given by all included rows).
The training is done by hitting the "Go" button...

  • How to compare two regression coefficients?

Hi, i have a data set with:
    2 groups: A and B
for each case, 2 variables: var1 and var2
i'd like to compare regression coefficient R2 and R2 (between the 2 groups) for the regression curves: var1=R1*var2 and var2=R2*var2

I know how to obtain R1 and R2 (fit y by x (var2=y and var1=x), group by "group", but I don't know how to compare R& and R2 to say there are not equal (or R1>R2).

    Thank's for your help...

  • Comparing multiple rows in a large table & keeping row with largest value

    Hi Guys-

I am somewhat new to JMP...I have a large 1,000,000+ row table (13 columns) that I need to consolidate in the following way:

I have multiple rows for observations on a single case- (not each case is observed the same number of times- some have 3 observations, some 10). I want to construct a summary table, keeping the observation with the largest values for each unique case.

    Thanks!

  • applying formula to entire jmp data table

    Hi,

I am new to using jmp and sas, so I apologize that this may be a simple question. I have a table with values in it, and I would like to create a new table with the same columns and rows, but with a formula applied to the entire new table. I have thousands of columns, so it is not practical to apply the formula column by column. I would really appreciate any suggestions that anyone could offer.

  • Multiple range tests: How can I change the cutoff level from alpha=0.05?

When I run a multiple range test from the “Fit Model” on the “Analyze” main menu of either JMP 7 or JMP 8 (which can be done by running the model, expanding the “Effect Details” section of the output and then clicking on “LS Means Student’s t” or “LS Means Tukey HSD” depending on the type of test I want), I get a set of pairwise comparisons performed at the 5% significance level.

    I need to change t...

    Hi Guys,

I have data that is arranged as follows in my table, I have shown only one column but each of a, b,c,d has a data column associated with it.

    a
    b
    c
    d

When I plot the box plots from left to right, I get a,c,b,d on my X axis.

How can I make my box plots with the category X axis as a,b,c,d?

  • Random Parameters in Profiler?

I am evaluating JMP (currently V. 7, but my company is in the upgrade process) and I am particularly interested in figuring out how to use the Profiler for some of my frequent activities. Can anyone help with the following?

I would like to simulate a function F(x, theta(i)) over a range of x values. Theta(i) is a set of parameters drawn from a multivariate-normal distribution for each individual ...

  • Overlay normal quantile plots without long string labels

    Hello,

I am a longtime user of JMP7. To make overlay normal quantile plots I use Fit Y by X, where Y is the continual variable like Height and X is a categorical variable like Gender. Using Right-click/Legend gives a nice color coded legend for the curves, but JMP also tries to label each curve way up at the top (upper quantile) end of the curve. Invariably these are ugly and overlap each other. ...
