  • DOE: Should I bother with lots of replicates with only two factors?

Suppose I am conducting an experiment with only two 2-level categorical factors of interest. However, I have the budget for 24 runs. That's 6 reps of each design point of a full factorial. I really only need to detect the factors' (and interactions) effects, but I anticipate large experimental error due to the nature of the measures of human performance under investigation. Do the additional repli...

  • Gage R&R analysis?

I need some help with my JMP friends. I have attached a simple typical Gage R&R data set (3 operators, 5 samples and 3 repeated measures).  This would be crossed then nested.  When I run the analysis and get variance components, all seems OK.  The I use the built in JMP Gage R&R platform (under the variability chart), the analysis is completely wrong.  What am I doing wrong?

  • trailing cumulative sum formula

I have what is likely to be a very easy formula need. I have a temperature dataset and need to calculate a trailing cumulative sum over the past 120 days (known as "degree-heating weeks" since I will convert this sum to weeks by dividing by 7). I know how to get a trailing average, and I know how to get a cumulative sum, but is it possible to get a trailing, 120-day cumulative sum? In this case, w...

  • Is there a script to ensure my mark by colour in variability chart stays fixed?

I created a JSL script to automatically plot a variability chart in JMP and made the row legend to adjust my specific column into a specific colour (Chart in control flag). Unfortunately it did not captured the entire script when I used copy script feature in JMP. I've shared a picture with example below. The colour should be blue (Y) and red (N). It seemed like there's a problem with the chart in...

I have a data table with multiple control limits for various parameters. How do I assign this control limits quickly into a variability chart? The method I'm currently doing is adding them manually into each variability charts then copy and save the scripts. Honestly I found it very time consuming and tiring. Could someone suggest an alternative. Sincerely appreciate it if there's a quicker way to...

  • Problem specifying model for a partly nested ANOVA design

My study design is mixed-model with one fixed between-plot fixed factor (A), a random plot factor (B), nested in A (B[A]), and two crossed within-plot fixed factors (C and D).  I'm able to enter a full factorial model that includes the 3 fixed factors and all their interactions, using either the Least Squares or Mixed-Model Personality.  I'm also able to add the random factor (B[A]), but things go...
