  • Contradictory Ranking: Group Means vs Nominal Logistic Regression

We have four categories, each with 1000 (continuous) responses. The order for the average response A < B < C << D. The order obtained by nominal logistic regression: A < C < B << D.  (The difference between means B and C is 1.64%). I understand that nominal logistic regression is based on likelihood ratios for different rankings, but it is still puzzling to me that the same dataset yields a differ...

  • What does an "estimate" represent for Boosted Trees ?

Hello  Questions for Boosted Trees under Predictive Modeling platform: 1- What does an "estimate" represent at the split end mathematically ? Is it an expected change in response per unit change in the parameter (ie.. sensitivity ) ?  2- Assuming e.g. 200 layers of boosted trees model , is the final predicted model equal to the 200th i.e. last layers' model or an average of all 200 models ? I am n...

  • using DOE for OFAT experiments

just wondering, would it be useful to use a DOE if you are doing an OFAT (one factor at a time experiment) experiment?  would you get any more statistical understanding from the DOE than if you just did the scan and a regression analysis?

  • Sample size calculation for TOST

Hi everyone! Context: I have a process A which is my reference, and I developped a process B which I want to assess its comparability to process A. To do so, I plan to use a TOST (equivalence test) using the process A's 3xSTD (standard deviation) as a treshold. Now, I want to know how many time should I repeat process B to be sure to be able to detect such variation (knowing that a run is a signif...

  • JMP Pro, Dantzig selector: how do I improve computational time

Hello JMP community members. Concerning the use of the Dantzig selector on big and sparse datasets.I wondered what features would be at disposal to tune the computational time.Right now it takes about 40 minutes to get a result back for a problem with 380 rows and 149 non-singular parameters. This makes me wonder about the options available to tweak the computation time. I was thinking about redu...

  • What does it mean when the solution path for Elastic Net is not single-valued?

Dear JMP Community,   (W10, 64-bit, JMP Pro 15.2.1)   I am running a model to assess the active predictors. I am doing this by using the Autovalidation add-in to generate a Null Factor for my data. I then use the GenReg platform to find estimates for each possible X-factor and then Bootstrap those estimates to get a better assessment of the contributions to the response. I came across a very stran...
