  • Weibull model for bacterial decay

I have been asked to do a linear regression using Weibull on jmp. It only seems to work for data with a positive curve (growth), however, when trying to select the Weibull for the decay data it cannot be selected. Is there a parameter I am missing or an assumption that doesn't allow me to use this model?

  • Multiple Comparison Intervals for Standard Deviation (Test for Equal Variance)

Attached is a sample from Minitab of Multiple comparison intervals for the standard deviation. So, it is a crossed factor test for equal variance.Does jmp have a similar function? Had been trying to do to Fit Y by X but it only separates it.

  • How to use sample size and power for factorial DoE to determine number of replicated treatments

I'm trying to learn how to operate JMP's dialog boxes for sample size for use in experimental design. I'd like to understand how to determine the number of replicates necessary in a factorial experiment.  I'd like to know how many times to run each treatment combination.   Assume there is no measurement error, no need for blocking or centerpoints, the response variable is continuous and everything...

  • DOE

Hi,I have an interesting situation (at least to me) for a DOE. I need to design an experiment with 13 variables. Variable X1 and X2 (both numeric) cannot be in the experiment at the same time. If X2 is selected then the X2*X3 <= 1200. Furthermore, the ratio of X6 to X5 must be a whole number. The goal of the experiment is to improve wafer uniformity as measured by etch depth across the diameter of ...

  • Mixture sum

Hi.  I tried to make a custom designed mixture experiment with only two different ingredients with varying procents, all other ingredients is helt constant. I tried to use the "mixture sum" option to sum up the two ingredient at the maximum range but it does not work. The last ingredient gets changed into the value stated in mixture sum but that is not what I am after. Any suggestions on what coul...

  • How to determine term significance based on power value?

Using the design evaluation tool in JMP, I compared a Box-Behnken design with a Custom design (with 28 runs) to evaluate 5 factors with 3 levels each (see below):Given the comparison, the custom design was chosen for the experimental runs. In the evaluation, I found the quadratic terms to be statistically significant (p<0.05) for one or more responses, despite the power for these terms being low a...

  • Mixture Desing - Desing with constant factor

I like to create a design with 4 factors, in which one factor is constant and this should be taken into account for the 100% calculation. I get a result where the three variable factors are calculated to 100% and the constant factor is then over 100%. Can that be changed somewhere?

  • Response Screening Effect Size - logistic

Related to the previous post How to get "Effect size" column with Response Screening functionality , I am also wondering how effect size in the response screening platform is calculated, specifically for categorical Y vs continuous X.  JMP help shows:  "When Y is categorical and X is continuous, the effect size is the square root of the average ChiSquare value for the whole model test."  Running b...

  • DoE with two-choice experiments, continuous response variable

We want to rank the preference  of population of animals for n different recipes. Recipes are tested in two-choice assays, where groups of over 100 individuals can choose one choice or the other. Preference for the group is computed as a preference index, a continuous variable that is between -1 and 1. Is there an experimental design that would help reduce the number of combinations to test in ord...

  • Sub-sampling data analysis in JMP

In Biology (Plant Sci. and Agriculture) usually we have sub-sampling data for replicates. It's very difficult to analyze these data in commonly use Stat S/W (SPSS/Minitab) because MSS(Error) is calculating wrongly.  Without taking averages of samsamples, the easiest S/W for this is using JMP and I need some assistance for this. I've found very useful Youtube video about subsampling in JMP  (CRD: S...
