Tables Summary preferences

What inspired this wish list request?

I frequently make summary tables (using Tables > Summary) as part of my analysis workflow, and then I want to do subsequent work on the summary table.  If I forget to uncheck the "link to orignal table" option in the dialog, the summary table will be linked to the original table.  the only way to break the link is to either: a) close the table, and redo the summary, unchecking the link; b) save the summary table, close it, and re-open it.  This creates a lot of extra clicks and general annoyance.

What is the improvement you would like to see?

Add preference settings for Tables > Summary to allow for setting the "link to original data table" to a different default setting.

Why is this idea important?

This would improve my workflow and happiness while using JMP.

Agree, preferences would be nice.
For me, I will pick this one:

On the other hand, I'm super happy to have the linking for summary tables. The interactive highlighting is super useful.
I guess every second day I create a summary table, just to use it as a selection-remote-control for the main table.

But yes, in 1 out of 10 cases, one gets frustrated to have the link:
- no possibility to rename columns, to change formulas, ...
- no functionality to cut the connection between a linked table and the main table

Workarounds:
I also started with saving the table and reopening it.
Faster:  create a non-linked subset (fortunately, for subsets, "no link" is the default option)

When I remember correctly, there is already a wish to control Tables/Summary via preferences.
But I did not find it ...
