We consider several factors when looking for what ideas to add to JMP. This includes what will have the greatest benefit to our customers based on scope, needs and current resources. Product ideas help us decide what features to work on next. Additionally, we often look to ideas for inspiration on how to add value to developments already in our pipeline or enhancements to new or existing features.

Add new quick formula which can be used to compare if selected column values are same in the row

From time to time I come across situation where I would like to quickly check if two columns have exactly same results in rows. I usually do this by writing new column with :COL1 == COL2 for example. It would be nice to have this as an New Formula option in right click menu (and hopefully support more than 2 columns).

I often have the same issue - and miss this functionality.

But seems that the both of us are the only ones who "regularly" compare values in different columns - and have the wish to facilitate the step.

As other wishes to improve the new formula column menu got rejected (developers want to keep the menu "slim") , I fear that this one won't find it's way into JMP either.

Nevertheless, with the new New Formula column/Formula ... entry it got significantly easier to create such a formula column manually:

use the new entry

... add = and the second column. done.

Hm ....
