Help with GLM Setup for Species and Year Effects in JMP

Hello,

For my thesis, I need to use a GLM model, but I am not sure if JMP is handling my data structure correctly.
I am examining how different factors, such as year and sponge species, affect sponge filtration efficiency. The issue is that I have two sponge species sampled in each year (only two years total), but only one of the species is shared between the years, while the other species is unique to a specific year.

I am unsure whether JMP correctly accounts for this situation in the model.
Any thoughts, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much,
Amir

Re: Help with GLM Setup for Species and Year Effects in JMP

Hi @lazyamir,

I think more information (or preferably the data set) would help in determining the best way to help. My recommendation would be to treat the sponge sample as a random effect as you have the species nested within year in this model (this can be achieved through 'Nest' option in Fit Model).

Thanks,

Ben
