Below is a sample of a shapefile I've imported and am trying to create a -xy jmp file to use with graph builder. All the samples I've looked at show lat and long as something like N 90* 34''. I can i get this data into appropriate form.

Thanks for any help.

All you need to do is to select one of the "Geographic" formats for each of the lat/long columns

Appreciate the response, but when I tried that (here, X:long DDD,Y:Lat DMS):

Shape Part X Y

1 1 1160094° E 957008°22′48″ N

1 1 1160055° E 956375°46′44″ N

1 1 1158725° E 955170°56′16″ N

1 1 1160322° E 954843°18′04″ N

1 1 1160353° E 952823°17′06″ N

1 1 1162336° E 953985°54′03″ N

1 1 1162052° E 951884°08′55″ N

1 1 1161688° E 951593°19′28″ N

Simillar results obtain if I reverse X/Y roles and / or change the format.

The shape files don't rely on the display format for the X and Y columns.  The actual numeric values are what they use.  Formats are just for human consumption.
