I have a basic question. If I have a 2^2 factorial design like this (4 runs) X1 X2 -1 -1 -1 1 1 -1 1 1 the column vectors are orthogonal, but just what are they vectors of? What are the basis vectors? I'm trying to draw this on a graph (OK, really hard with four dimensions, but even trying two dimensions for a one-factor experiment). Or is there a much more general concept of "vector" going on here?

2021 Online Discovery Summit Americas is just around the corner (in fact, registration opens on August 31). On Thursday, October 7th at 5pm ET, there will be a fun virtual social hour all about DOE in everyday life.
The conversation will be about running DOEs for things like optimizing home energy efficiency or developing the perfect cold-brew coffee blend. I'm looking to recruit a handful of people who use DOE for personal projects to help host breakout rooms. No need to prepare anything in advance, just come ready to engage with others and maybe pick up an idea or two along the way!
If you're interested, please respond to this message or shoot me an email -- meg.eberle@jmp.com.
Very much hoping to hear from some of you!

Hi Everyone, We have scheduled our next New England JMP user group meeting for 12 to 1 on Monday, June 7th. We are currently open to brainstorming on topics and looking for potential presenters. 1. Is anyone interested in demoing on something they have passion and knowledge for? 2. Even without a formal presentation, would anyone be interested in being on an "Ask the Experts" panel? 3. Are there topics that group members would be interested in seeing? Please respond in the discussion thread with your ideas, or reach out to me directly (swartzel.ja@pg.com, 937-626-0593) Thanks, -Jeff Swartzel
