Hi, thank you very much for this introductory learning video—it's clear, practical, and engaging.
Unfortunately, the “View in My Videos” link doesn’t seem to be working properly. I’d really appreciate access to your additional videos, as I’d like to continue learning from this series.
I also have a question regarding repairable systems reliability analysis in JMP:
Does JMP support adjusting reliability predictions by incorporating failure severity (e.g., a severity index), rather than relying solely on failure occurrence probabilities derived from censored data (right, left, or interval)?
To clarify, I’m not referring to:
Segmenting the dataset by severity levels (which would produce separate curves), or
Performing degradation analysis.
Instead, I’m interested in a unified analysis for a single system that experiences failures of varying severity—where the model produces one overall reliability prediction curve that accounts for severity as part of the calculation.
Is such an approach supported in JMP, or would it require a custom method/workaround?
Hello @Imanuel_S . Thanks for attending the Reliability Mastering JMP session a few weeks ago.
The View in My Videos link (if it worked) would be the same as the play button on the video (see screenshot below), so you are not missing anything as long as you see the play arrow. I apologized for the confusion.
Either @DonMcCormack or @JerryFish are experts on reliability, so I am copying them here so they can respond to your questions.
I would have to know a bit more about the context in which you're collecting your data and, possibly, assumptions you're making about the system. Is this a system in which the failure severity corresponds to a component in the system? Is the system repairable or non-repairable (e.g., would you be replacing the failed part and restarting the system)? JMP Pro has two Platforms, Repairable Systems Simulation (RSS) and Reliability Block Diagram (RBD), that might be able to help you estimate failure probabilities, particularly when you dealing with a system comprised of individual components (or a component comprised of sub-components). RSS can be applied to either repairable or non-repairable systems and RBD treats the system as non-repairable.
