What inspired this wish list request?
It's great that there is a list of "builtin" presets in the Format Pattern dialog.
Unfortunately, some of our files use 2-3 additional formats which are not in the list.
What is the improvement you would like to see?
Please provide an option to store the current pattern to "user defined" in the list of presets.
Why is this idea important?
Once a user encountered a format pattern that is not in the list it is very likely that he will see it again and again - especially when loading the same type of data.
Then it could help a lot if the user could specify the special patterns on the first encounter and all the other times: just pick the stored pattern from the list.
