What inspired this wish list request? Tabulate is an extremely powerful platform for dynamically summarizing data. However, once your data is summarized correctly it hits a wall and become stuck to do much else with it. It seems the intent of the developer was to have you move it to a data table if you wanted to do further manipulation but this removes all the benefits of it being in tabulate, in that you can use the local data filter, quickly change the table, and highlight rows for different subgrouping (among other things.) Also, for anyone coming from excel, this feels exactly like a pivot table which then leads to frustration when the amount of manipulation is so limited.
What is the improvement you would like to see? I would like to be able to sort the data inside the platform just like I would be able to if the analysis was made into a data table. So this would not only be sorting by a single column but being able to sort by multiple columns. Also, there needs to be the ability to scroll lock the columns and rows for when your table gets larger as well as have the control panel be always visible so allow easier manipulation of the table when it grow tall or wide.
Why is this idea important? This would make the Tabulate platform more useful, align with user expectations, and also add a lot of value for use in JMP Live, where it is really the only option for showing line by line data that you can interact with.
