What inspired this wish list request?
I teach JMP at Seagate. I find a lot of students are using really inefficient compression when manipulating large datasets. This means that their performance is much lower than it could be.
What is the improvement you would like to see?
Currently displaying the bytes / row requires me to look at the columns properties -> data subtype. Then I have to look at the columns one at a time. I want to be able to quickly flip through my data table and see which columns are contributing the most to file size.
Why is this idea important?
It's so important for people to optimize their data type, but almost none of my co-workers do it. Even when I'm aware of the issue I have to manually dig through column properties to see the bytes/row. It should be really easy to impliment this feature and make my life easier.
