JMP SECRETS
JMP SECRETS
What inspired this wish list request? A desire to be able to write scripts that may need credentials but not wanting to expose or share those credentials.
What is the improvement you would like to see? The capability of JMP to store and recall secrets in an unexposable way. Similar to secrets on GitHub, once the secret is created and the value given, the user can't see the value. If I forget it, my only recourse is to make a new one and reset the secret.
Why is this idea important? The more interconnected cloud pieces become to JMP scripting and data the more crediential-based work needs to be done. Some of this is accomplished thruogh SSO connectivity. And while convenient, the UI for SSO work is janky with the bouncing back and fourth to a browser window, etc. And in some cases SSO isn't the best approacth and simple keys make the most sense.
But if Keys are being used, JMP has no good way to store/access those keys and keep them hidden from view. In my mind, this would be similar to what JMP has already put in place with the API key for JMP Live access. I can load an api key into that spot but it cannot be retrieved, it can only be used or overwritten. A way to create other, custom, credentials would be super useful, espcially if there is JSL connectivity to create/overwrite credentials from the JSL layer.
