JMP 19: Change Default Column Search from "Contains Phrase"

I just upgraded to JMP 19.  Now every table that I open I have to click the little drop down box next to the Filter text box on the column pane and select "Contains Terms" instead of "Contains Phrase".

Please add a Preference to se the default Column Search to one of the options other than "Contains Phrase".

Since this setting was updated, my workflow has been disrupted as I have to change this over many times a day to the "contains terms".

We need it to be configured as a default setting or else at the very least persist for the rest of an active JMP session.

hi @Sarah-Sylvestre @mia_stephens , could you please confirm that this issue gets fixed with the next .x release?

Hi all, there is no change in 19.x.x, but in the next release (JMP 2027 v20, March) the whole menu is different. We've changed the default input mode in filter fields from “Contains Phrase” to “Flexible". This allows you to access more advanced searching syntax without having to change modes. We've broadly followed Google search syntax. You can also choose between the default modes in Preferences under “Filter Field Input Mode”.

If you're not already a member, you can try this out via the Early Adopter Program and send feedback to [email protected]. (Authorized users can join via jmp.com/earlyadopter).

I hope this helps!

Mia
