Engineers change their minds, often wanting different factors or factor settings for a new data collection than the previous one. This is relatively easy to do in Bayesian Optimization, but difficult to do in Augment Design. I’d like to have the ability in Augment Design to:
- Change the new data collection range of a continuous factor. For example: Prior data had factor X1 30-50 and now the engineer wants it to be 35-60.
- Add or subtract a level to a categorical factor. Adding a level is currently available in Augment Design. I would also like to be able to subtract a level. Or do both for the same categorical factor.
- Set an existing continuous or categorical factor to be locked to a single set level. Yes, there are ways to work around this this (ignore it when listing factors in the initial Augment Design interface), but it would be nice to able to retain it as a column in the augmented DOE table. Engineers like those retained factor columns.
- Add continuous/categorical/mixture/discrete numeric new factors (entirely empty factor columns). This is a wish list item that may or may not be active.
The current limitations in Augment Design in handling the changing wishes of engineers mean I have to do backflips to creatively create a new augmented DOE. I would strongly prefer this to be simpler and faster.
