Overview
Some users enter Chinese column names and other text in JMP® using third-party input methods, such as Pinyin-based input software. In certain cases, JMP might not recognize or accept text entered through these input methods.
This behavior is typically related to how the input method integrates with Windows text input services.
Resolution
JMP supports input methods that use Windows Input Method Editor (IME) and Microsoft CoreText input technologies.
If the alternative input method uses an older or legacy text input mechanism, you might need to enable JMP's legacy text input processing option.
Enable Legacy Text Input Processing
- Open JMP.
- Select File > Preferences.
- Select Windows Specific from the left navigation panel.
- Check the box next to “Use legacy text input processing”.
- Click OK to save the setting.
- Exit and restart JMP.
The preference change does not take effect until JMP has been closed and relaunched.
Additional Information
- Input methods that support the standard Windows IME framework generally work without additional configuration.
- Some third-party input methods use older text input technologies that are not fully compatible with modern Windows text input processing.
- Enabling Use legacy text input processing can improve compatibility with these older input methods.
- If issues persist after enabling the preference and restarting JMP, verify that the input method is configured to use Windows IME or Microsoft text input services.
