Help shape the future of JMP: Take this year’s Wish List Prioritization Survey!

Last summer, we launched a pilot version of the JMP Wish List Prioritization Survey to explore a new way of gathering and prioritizing the incredible ideas submitted by our community. The response was fantastic – and we’re excited to bring it back this year! You can participate in this year's survey using this link. We encourage you to share it with your friends and colleagues as well!

What we learned

Thanks to the strong participation in the 2024 pilot survey, we gained valuable insights into what matters most to our users. Your feedback helped us better understand your priorities and directly influenced the direction of JMP development.
We also received helpful suggestions on the survey format itself, so this year’s version includes a few improvements to make it even easier to share your thoughts.

Survey results and impact

Here are the top community-prioritized ideas from last year’s survey:

  1. Plotting several trends from sensor data that have different units (or scale): 1,650 coins
  2. Comprehensive scripting index: 1,620 coins
  3. Secondary x-axis in Graph Builder: 1,490 coins

As a reminder, in this survey, coins represent your voting power—you get 100 per section to distribute among the ideas you care about most. Unlike kudos or votes, which are simple likes or endorsements, coins let you prioritize by investing more heavily in the ideas that matter most to you.

We’re thrilled to share that the top-ranked feature will be available in a future release, and the scripting index has gained strong internal momentum. Other highly rated ideas are also on the roadmap, including dark mode for Windows.

Thank you!

We greatly appreciate your participation and continued engagement in shaping JMP. Your input truly makes a difference, and we’re excited to keep building JMP with your ideas at the forefront.

Stay tuned for more updates – and don’t forget, you can always share new ideas or feedback by adding them to the JMP Wish List or participating in this year’s survey.

Lastly, as an additional feedback opportunity, if you have experience using the List Check and Range Check Column Properties in JMP, please take this very short survey to give us insights into how you use this functionality.

FAQ

  1. What role do kudos play in the wish list process?
Kudos provide valuable insight into the community's interest in specific ideas, so please use kudos to vote on what matters most to you. These votes are essential to our decision-making process, along with considerations like strategic alignment, technical feasibility, and resource availability, as we prioritize features for development.

  2. How is the survey list created?
Our product team curates the survey list by considering user feedback from various channels, including the most upvoted ideas on the forum. We aim to balance community priorities with internal strategic initiatives to create a well-rounded list of potential features for the survey.

  3. Why doesn't the survey simply use upvotes from the forum?
The forum is a space for ongoing idea submission and voting. The survey, however, focuses attention on a specific subset of ideas, offering users across the platform an opportunity to prioritize these ideas. This ensures broader participation beyond regular forum contributors.

  4. Are ideas with lots of votes always implemented?
Not necessarily. While a high number of votes indicate strong community interest, some features may be complex or require significant changes to our product architecture. Each idea is evaluated based on complexity, feasibility, and its impact on the overall product roadmap.

  5. How can I ensure my idea isn't a duplicate?
Before submitting a new idea, search the forum to see if it’s already been shared. If it exists, you can add your kudos or comments to support it. Doing so strengthens the idea's visibility and helps avoid duplicate submissions.
