Where Ctrl+Z / Undo will help

More and more steps in Jmp can be undone via Ctrl-Z.

But some actions are not yet recorded.

Let's collect what could be improved ...

Re: Where Ctrl+Z / Undo will help

Hm, let's also list some - the best - positive examples.

Like Deletion of a table script - how good that I can recover the script via Undo !

Re: Where Ctrl+Z / Undo will help

what can not be undone:
1) removal of a local data filter

Sometimes - stupid me - I think: Oh, let's add a data filter.

and after clicking on the toolbar icon:

I realize:  there was already one - and I just removed it.

Another example: In Dashboards.
The toolbar icon just adds the filter to the first plot in the dashboard.

... or it removed it from the first plot - even if your actual intention was to add a local data filter to the second plot ...

Note: It would be helpful if the toolbar icon had 2 different colors - one for adding a filter and one for removing it
(if the filter is already there).

EDIT:
Since JMP18, the shortcut in the toolbar has now 2 different icons:
1) the standard one to enable the local data filter:

2) once the local data filter is added, the toolbar icon gets disabled *) :

*)  if a user wants to remove the data filter, there is a function in the red triangle menu:

Re: Where Ctrl+Z / Undo will help

Most of the changes in a GraphBuilder Platform can be undone via Ctrl-Z.

wonderful!

How does the plot look like with "age" used as X Group - oh no - Ctrl Z.
Let's drag a second column onto the X axis to show a hierarchy - oh no - Ctrl Z.

How do the points look like with another color - oh - Ctrl Z.

Re: Where Ctrl+Z / Undo will help

what can not be undone:
2) Changed axis settings.

You just removed the wrong reference line? no chance to add it again.

You just changed the scale type from Normal Probability to Linear? You have to go there again to change it back

You changed the range of an axis - either via the menu or via dragging the axis? Hm, you have to manually find the old value *)

*) Most likely the ticks changed from 1 week to 2 months. or from 1 step to 5 steps. So check them as well ...

changes in Graph Builder which  cannot be un-done via CTRL+Z?

4) In JMP19, there is a new one: Type Properties.

Unfortunately, the new functionality collides with Data Filters  - with significant harm for exploratory data analysis:
https://community.jmp.com/t5/Discussions/consistent-marker-and-style-control-type-properties/m-p/917...

Unfortnately² - Undo doesn't work:

In the video,Type properties takes control and applies the grey color to every item in the plot.
This step is not recorded by JMP , so JMP will  skip this step when the user cycles back through the changes via  CTRL-Z.
