Reading Excel file - column with numeric and character values

I am reading Excel file with JSL, first 2000 rows of column are numeric, followed by rows with characters. How do I make sure the column is read as character?

Hi @gfirmstone , another option would be to directly specify character datatype for that column, see https://community.jmp.com/t5/Discussions/Force-Excel-Import-Wizard-to-Use-Character-for-All-Columns/...

Re: Reading Excel file - column with numeric and character values

One of the Excel input options that can be specified is

Scan Whole File

Specifies how long JMP scans the file to determine data types for the columns. This is a
Boolean value. The default value is true; the entire file is scanned until the data type is
determined. To import large files, consider setting the value to false, which scans the file for
five seconds.

Scan Whole File is the default.
